Staff at reception. 2 staff sorted and changed our room for us as too small. Being older ladies we appreciated this.

Fun vibrant city easy access to all attractions by foot around the central city, easy bus trip to local beaches or walking distance in the main city area.

Local parks easy drive or walk or bus.
If staying in the city great shopping and local restaurants are easy to access. Local pools are on hand and only a small trip via car or bus. Local supermarkets are handy and have everything you require.
Great local pubs and bars for a night out on the town all within walking distance to you accommodation if staying in town.
Loads to do in Wellington like visiting the Bee hive, cable car, Te papa, local markets, local gardens, and much much more.
Loads of free stuff to do also (we visited the Marvel event being held in wellington).

Bus rides and train rides are awesome, just get yourself a Snapper card and more than one person can travel with that one card. Only one person can travel on that card on trains. Travelling in bus was also good, no hassle to driving or parking, bus service are almost everywhere till late nights and safe environments.

We thought Wellington was a beautiful City.
We thought Wellington was a beautiful City. We were there in late March. The weather was lovely and cool, just the right temperature if you like to explore a new location on foot. The bus system in the City is brilliant. The Metlink public transport card system can be a little intimidating but once you master it, it works exceptionally well. Otherwise, you can pay cash when travelling on the buses or trains, but it is quite significantly more expensive to pay this way. Also, it pays to check out the fare before you travel and have the correct money when getting on because nearly everyone uses the prepaid Metlink card so the driver has limited change. The seafood in New Zealand is the best in the world in my opinion. If you are staying centrally and have cooking facilities, I would recommend the Seafood Market in Lambton Quay or Cuba Street. It is not a huge shop but the fish comes in daily. Their fish and chips are pretty good as well. But there are plenty of seafood restaurants around that serve great food. Wellington is a a gorgeous city and reminded me very much of San Francisco.
Really central location- Te Papa museum was only a 5 minute walk, with the same sort of distance to eateries/bars on Cuba St & Courtney Place. Comfortable large bed. Sky Movies included on TV. Good choice for breakfast, including continental and cooked.
Probably only 15 spaces in the hotel car park, but loads more in the public car park just across the back driveway (back entrance for unloading is 25 Bond St, Wellington for satnav).
An oasis in the city - a little away from the main CBD but central enough to walk or catch a cheap uber. Has a couple of eatng places handy. The reception desk was very helpful. Has car parking which is a bonus. This was a brilliant place to stay the apartment had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My husband loved watching the trains, planes and ships coming and going. Can recommend.
Was quiet but did stay Sunday & Monday nights. Very comfortable bed. Nice clean room. Extra tea / coffee etc. items required no problem for staff to supply. Great location to central city shopping and food outlets. Grateful to Manager for compensating me with free breakfast for an issue which inconvenienced me which was NOT the Hotels fault plus a TV cable fault, much appreciated 👍
The Shepherd Arms is one of the few hotels in New Zealand that has an 'English Pub feel' (where I have stayed some 500 different times in different pubs) about it and this is what I look for when travelling even around New Zealand.
The dinner menu, although small, was good and the food very acceptable.
Will stay again when next in need of accommodation in Wellington
Great location in the heart of the city. The rooms have been beautifully designed and are very comfortable and quiet. It was a lovely surprise finding complimentary croissants and orange juice at the door of the room in the morning. Next time I visit Wellington I will definitely stay at The Intrepid Hotel again!
I liked the fact that we were able to book the hotel very last minute and had very accommodating staff who assisted us. I liked the location which was right next to a supermarket and city location. The room had all the necessities. I liked that there was 24 hour reception also.

The hotel itself is modern, clean, the rooms are a decent size and well maintained.
The location is not far from city center. The garden view overlooks the greenery of Wellington and the Bolton Street Memorial Park.
