Nice reception people - very friendly and helpful. Loved the old style rooms

Paying for a cup of tea when having breakfast at their dining room. I know this was a restaurant attachment but to have to pay for a cup of tea when having a cooked breakfast of bacon and egg is a bit over the top. How much does that cost in goodwill? One tea bag and some water

Love this hotel! Friendly and helpful staff, room lovely! The fixtures and fittings are all new and high end but the hotel still retains vintage Art Deco feel! The food in the Emporium restaurant was to die for! Loved this hotel would defo stay again!

Great art deco style hotel that stays true all the way through the rooms. Free fast internet. Awesome roof area that is shared.

Room 123 (small) lacks natural light

Very comfortable king beds and beautifully renovated rooms. Excellent service at the two bars - particularly the Emporium, a fantastic wine bar where no expense was spared. Close to everything, the centre of town.

The Mr was only disappointed there were no sports channels on the cable tv.

Excellent decor. Great space with a new kitchen.

Far too noisy with the pub below. It was a Wednesday night and the music etc didnt finish until 1.30am. With young children this was unacceptable.

The restaurant, the image, location

The machine noise that went on and off with loud clicks all night which seemed to be coming from the floor below and also seemed to be only heard in room 148. Evidently someone had complains about it a couple of weeks early, so why hadn't it been fixed?

Decor was excellent and well thought out. Love the modernized bathrooms within each bedroom. Very centrally located to CBD. Front desk staff very informative and helpful. Extremely good value for money.

The hotel had a fascinating history and was done up in the Art Deco look in keeping with the towns names Art Deco capital of the world. The rooms were done up with good taste. The hotel was within walking distance of everything. Really enjoyed our stay.

Shower was tricky to operate and teh cold tap made noises, as did one next door

The suite (room128) was very spacious and quiet with a lovely outlook across Marine Parade to Hawkes Bay. Access to the verandah was an added bonus. The staff in reception and the restaurant were unfailingly friendly, welcoming and helpful. A great three night stay.
