Small town center, biking nice with winetasting especially Clearview with its welcoming staff. Walking Bluff Hill beautiful gardens and good lookout
Outskirts of town
Art Deco style
Constant clattering of metal against metal of street sign under bedroom window
Noisy air conditioner.
Wonderful hotel , great fifties feeling.
Great location on the beach Lovely hotel with Art Deco furnishings Easy walk to shops and eateries Our room like many others opens onto a large open veranda with shared seating and views of the sea
Best to ring ahead and check about parking. We didn't and used one of the many metered parking spaces nearby. Quite cheap but we had to make sure they were topped up!
Great location and so much better since the refurbishment .
We spent 2 nights at the Masonic during a 3 week trip to NZ. A friendly welcome, a really comfortable bed in a beautifully restored room and perfectly located in the centre of Napier. This hotel is full of character and the extensive refurbishment has been very well thought through, retaining, even enhancing, the Art Deco features. It certainly did the trick for us and we would highly recommend.
We loved the history associated with the building and its atmosphere. The location couldn't be bettered - right on the sea front and right in the middle of town. The breakfast choice was excellent.
Because of the quirky nature of the building, no one room is the same and we unfortunately had a very small room!
Right in the heart of Art Deco weekend events. Friendly professional staff. Lovely decor. Really comfortable beds.
Would have loved to have had the opportunity to laze around and have room service for one or two meals.
location and in the center of Napier Art Deco Festival
good breakfast....food generally tasty
Room a bit small but ok for an overnight stay. Bed comfortable but fittings seemed a bit worn but that may be the style
if you have a room above the pub it can be very noisy until late at night.
Art Deco themed hotel centrally located right on the promenade.. We were upgraded to a suite with a sea view that had doors leading out onto the first floor terrace. We loved it.
Breakfast was uninspiring
Location, decor, room, rooftop terrace and friendly staff.
No hot water in Shower on one occasion. Hotel had a big party for breakfast one day which meant the buffet was crowded with many options in short supply.
Location. Lovely walk along the waterfront outside hotel. Great breakfasts and able to access the town straight from hotel. Really lovely staff.
The wonderful Art Deco environment and the second floor deck!!! The bar was cool too and you cant beat the location by the beach/
Beautiful character hotel across the road from the beach. Lots of 1930's quirkiness. Staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. I would recommend.
Only 1 small point is that there was no steam extraction in the bathroom other than opening the window. Minor detail that I guess doesn't fit with the character of the hotel.
Great location and lovely architecture. Beautifully decorated inside. Good breakfast offering. Just really fabulous stay.
Great location in heart of Napier.
Bar was a bit grotty. A bit like the worst sort of English pub
Location very good
No parking on site. Room small & cramped
A tour around the town in a 1930s packard
Location and Art Deco surround
All good probably my most enjoyable hotel experience for some time
Friendly staff, good decor and central location overlooking the sea
Breakfast was a little disappointing as croissants were not fully baked and a little stale, all very bland in comparison to what local cafes offered
We ate in both the Rise and the Emporium and enjoyed both meals.Napier is a fab place to stay and the Masonic made us feel really at home. Will stay there again next time we come!
Paying for parking. These are contract spaces so we even had to pay for Sunday when parking is free everywhere else.
