This hotel is right in the centre of Napier overlooking the seafront. Beautifully restored to the original Art Deco style we loved the environment. The room was comfortable and opened on to a sunny terrace where we relaxed with drinks before dinner. A great spot if you are visiting Napier.
Lovely location, great building,
Room quite small when you have two large suitcases to fit in.
Everything-the room was gorgeous, staff were lovely and the hotel itself was really beautiful
There was nothing to dislike
Loved the old feel and the history.
No sky :-)
No proper parking area
Loved the design and refurb of each room. Rooms weren't big but each had access to a common area which lead to the balcony - all rather delightful.
Nice building, nice rooms and decor. Service was ok. Could do with a few places to hang clothes in the room however.
Was surprised to be charged an additional amount for parking, when it didn't detail anything on the booking. Especially when there was free overnight parking right outside, but the hotel parking was unsecured, open and no surveillance; not to mention 3 blocks away
Great hotel with high spec rooms and good bars and resturants.
We absolutely loved our stay here. Beautiful room, perfect central location and brilliant restaurant food. The decor is so well done- you feel like you've taken a step back in time!
Nice Art Deco stylish hotel in the middle of Napier town. All sights are in walking distance. The room (deluxe room) was large enough having entrance to roof terrace in which have nice views to streets and open sea. The Irish bar (connected to hotel) was nice place to have pub food and some beers. Hint: Park on the street, just 50-100 meters from the hotel - those places are free of charge.
location, food, bar, staff, just about everything
The entire city is a throw back in time-the music, the font that is used on all of the signage, the wares for sale in the shops. I loved the hotel, which is located directly across from the ocean. A perfect jumping off spot to hit the walking trials or wander around the town. The food was amazing. We ate most of our meals at the Emporium and were never disappointed.
nothing really, although the front desk people could have been friendlier to us.
We loved Napier and being in the Masonic was the tops. Situated right in the heart of the town but on the waterfront it was perfect. Staff were lovely and the room great. Lovely roof terrace available to all overlooking the sea.
+ location was great + room deco was beautiful, though not as nostalgic as I would've expected + good shower + delicious dinner at the hotel's restaurant
- I would've expected a better breakfast with more fresh fruit etc. - Service at the front desk wasn't very friendly
My partner and I had an amazing stay at the Masonic. Both of us were blown away by the pacific view suite! Can not fault this hotel. The restaurant downstairs is a must also!
Having to leave.
The location, art deco feel, cleanliness to rate. The Emporium attached is a great asset with real friendly staff.
The lock-up is a great idea but I wonder, as it up for sale, whether this will be still available would be a concern. We have stayed several times over the years and is something we recommend to other bike riders as a feature.
Classic Decoration Cleanliness Close to the Bay
Poor WIFI connection at room
All the bedrooms looked good
was lucky to get an early check in as i didnt feel well grateful to receptionist
Beautiful blend of historic features and modern conveniences.
Loved everything from the moment I stepped into the foyer. I fell in love all over again. It's as if you want to live in the era. It was a warm sunny day and we were greeted by a much warmer welcome by the receptionist. The icing on the cake was we were even upgraded to a very beautiful corner suite. I almost didn't want to leave the hotel.
There was no wifi signal in the room. But that's okay, I got to spend quality time with my boys.
Location was great, room size was great if you only wanted a bed (we stayed in the smallest room they had), attached reataraunt and pub were great.
Open air, insecure car park not on site (3-5 min walk). Wifi didn't work in the lobby, worked fast in the room. Blinds aowef people to just see in due to the distance from the window and the angel from the outside to the bed. Slightly noisy, could hear a lot from elsewhere within the hotel.
price of beers
The old decor style of acconodstion and location
The service of staff at the restaurant was very poor. Some did not speak English.
