Score from 251 reviews Wonderful
We liked the hotel's athmosfere; it was well decorated in style. The restaurant/cafe was excellent regards service, food and personal touch.
Reception staff was not very flexible and personal.
Art Deco furnishing and decoration Very comfortable and spacious room Great location Great food in the restaurant Friendly and helpful staff
Early morning street cleaning!
Decor, location, atmosphere
We booked a suite with a sea view, and had street view only even though the front desk girl was pleased to tell us we had be upgraded since our booking. So that was disappointing. Also parking was not convenient but satisfactory.
The little sitting room was comfortable for relaxing during the day. Restaurant was good and staff always helpful. Good central location.
Facilities were all there. Warm inviting hotel. Balcony over looking the sea. Wished we could stay longer
Really enjoyed the whole experience
In the heart of the Deco Experience!!!
The location is fabulous. The kitchen is very easy to use. There's a lot of space. The staff is very friendly. The furniture is very unique.
You can hear a bit of noise in the downstairs bar in the middle of the night.
We enjoyed the historic charm of the hotel. Fun time.
The receptionist left early giving us no access to our room key. The hotel's restaurant manager had to get someone to come and open our room door.
Loved the gorgeous 2 bed apartment, great facilities.
Noise from pub below
The location was good in that it was close to shopping, restaurants, and the water/beach for walking.
We had a room on the first floor on the street side. It was VERY loud. Had a hard time sleeping because of street noise and traffic.
Great location close to shops, museum, seafront, restaurants, memorial conference centre. Great ambience with art deco architecture. Very comfortable rooms. Partner arrangements with 2 restaurants very good. Proactively helpful staff.
Doors onto communal roof terrace could do with extra locking - eg bolt or chain?
I liked the decor and the location... car park only drawback. It was pouring with rain during our overnight stay!
As mentioned above
Brilliant place to stay right in the centre of town. Food was very good and had two bars. Will stay here again
Attention to period decor impeccable, while elevated to modern day comforts. Bed quality high. Breakfast buffet good variety and quality. Fabulous location on Marine Parade close to beach shopping museum.. and Emporium of course... went for FAWC event and enjoyed food and atmosphere immensely.
Slight confusion over front entrance, but just went through Emporium. Drove around the block looking for temp parking to check in, decided to keep it and feed the meter in the morning, but they do offer offsite parking somewhere behind museum for extra cost.
Would definetely recommend this hotel to our friends as could not fault it even though renovations were taking place
Very beautiful hotel!
Staff, decor, cleanliness, food, outlook, location were all perfect. Loved this hotel and would go back if we are in the area again.
Having to leave!
Quirky and great location
Very small shower
Style and comfort, spaciousness, options on restaurants - internal and external within locality.
Street and interconnect noise. Art deco clutter on above head height shelving in public rooms - overdone compared to elegance of display cabinets and silverware.
The friendly, helpful staff, the complimentary room upgrade and the excellent location. We had a really nice stay, and look forward to future visits.
My only concern was the step separating the bathroom from the sleeping area. I had visions of at best stubbing my toes in the night, or at worst falling. Fortunately nothing happened.
Loved this restored art-deco hotel. Fab location in the centre of town - lots of character and able to wander at leisure around the city. Loved the feel and vibe of Emporium - good breaky and great dinner. Comfy, clean room with what seemed a new bathroom - small and shower only but that is fine with us. Access to a huge balcony. Great spot for an evening G&T. Good to have access to a guest laundry and reception able to supply single load packets of soap - great idea.
friendly , helpful staff, good food, lovely art deco inside.
Nothing I didn't like.
Brilliant. Really enjoyed my stay. Thank you.
Like the deco style which is in keeping with Napier. The new striped carpet in halls is a great introduction to the new fit outs in the rooms. The view from the upstairs balcony is legendary
