Very nice hotel. Staff is very friendly. Also, a very nice restaurant downstairs. Breakfast buffet was very good. We really enjoyed the decor. Great value compared to many other places in the area.
Step down from the bathroom to the bedroom in our room was a little difficult to get used to. But really, a very nice place to stay.
nice spacious room (given a free upgrade), good location for walking around the Town (City)
being woken up several times through the night (from 11pm till 4am) by the loud banging noise from other guest, room door being closed. The doors rattle in the frame when closing..trust me, it is loud.
An art deco building which epitomises Napier and which is beautifully decorated in the style throughout. It’s not super luxurious but still has very well appointed rooms of a good size, which make it great value. Don’t let the fact that it has a hotel downstairs worry you as this was a great place to have a drink or enjoy a gourmet meal. And it didn’t disturb our peace and quiet either. The location is excellent, just across the road from the beach and adjacent to the shops and restaurants. We will book to stay at the Masonic on our next trip to Napier too.
There wasn’t much not to like, but if you want to be picky, there were some renovations going in some of the rooms which caused a bit of noise during the day and the car parking provide is about 250m away and not undercover. Not enough to put us off at all.
Non intrusive staff warm style close to everything grt secure feeling
Some info about the hotel on booking .com was wrong ie shuttle from the airport to hotel was available but was not there didnt actually have one and my booking stated roomrate included breakfast and staff were not aware if this. However this was honoured and the food was awesome!!
Location was perfect, really enjoyed the Irish pub joined onto the hotel
The unique art deco style and decor everywhere. An easy walk around the city centre and waterfront's attractions. An easy few hours drive from Wellington for a great weekend break.
Overnight carparking was limited, but being there for the weekend made it less of a problem. couldn't open the windows in the lounge (double glaised and sealed)
Kitchen Facilities. Free Internet. Closeness to the CBD. Laundary Facilities. Comfy bed. Lots of space.
Temperature control. Access to the appartment.
we had an upostairs room facing the sea - the view was fantastic and soothing. The room has been recently refurbished. The meal at the Irish Bar was great but breakfast at the Emporium is expensive. Friendly and helpful staff made our holiday worthwhile
no parking outside to unload your bags, car park 200 m away - very costly
The ambience, the fabulous art deco decor which has been refurbished beautifully, the sense of history in the hotel, staff very helpful and friendly, our room was very quiet and restful.
The fact that we couldn't park at the Hotel - carrying our bags was a bit of a problem, even trying to park near the hotel to unload some backs was almost impossible.
The decor and friendly staff
The bar staff
The cold weather

Everything was perfect
The refurbishment of the overall hotel....particularly the bar and restaurant. Staff in both parts of the establishment were terrific.
A good restaurant and an Irish bar restaurant both part of the complex. The noise from the bars was not audible from our room on the first floor. Great staff - very welcoming
Ambience of hotel Views from room with the access to the balcony Guest Laundry Irish bar and restaurant attached to the hotel
Great room! had balcony with views of the sea. Downstairs was a pub/restaurant which served excellent food & drink.
That we only stayed for one night!
Modern and amazing. Location is great!
how close everything was, like bars, restrants, town, beach
Location, Bar Facilities with charge back available, Staff were pleasant and happy to assist. Would definitely stay again.
Showers were a bit hit and miss, Poor pressure and very temperamental in some rooms. Perhaps a night manger to insure all guests are respected and the noise is kept to a minimum from late arrivals back to the Hotel.
Great shopping friendly people good weather fresh air
The shower was a disaster-it took at least 15 minutes before the hot water ran-this would have been a major problem if I was on deadlines for time
Our event was there, we had a meal there and stayed,. It was perfect for our needs Thanx
We liked the hotel's athmosfere; it was well decorated in style. The restaurant/cafe was excellent regards service, food and personal touch.
Reception staff was not very flexible and personal.
Art Deco furnishing and decoration Very comfortable and spacious room Great location Great food in the restaurant Friendly and helpful staff
Early morning street cleaning!
Decor, location, atmosphere
We booked a suite with a sea view, and had street view only even though the front desk girl was pleased to tell us we had be upgraded since our booking. So that was disappointing. Also parking was not convenient but satisfactory.
