The location is just perfect for exploring the city and to catch the airport shuttle. We booked & paid for a delux twin room for 2nights but actually got just a standard room for some reason. At first we thought that was "the delux" at Mercure (which is very poor if so..), but after spending a night in the standard room, we asked a receptionist if it really was a delux room and found out it was just a standard room. The receptionist asked us to show them the proof that we booked & paid for a delux room so we did so, then she talked to the duty manager to ask her how to deal with the matter. The duty manager told us that the room we booked & paid was either for "a delux double" or "a standard twin" but the booking confirmation we got from Booking.com said we would get "a spacious room with a clear city view on higher floor" so the option must have been either "a delux double" or "a delux twin", but the duty manager didn't admit that and tried to persuade us that she's offering a room upgrade on our 2nd night without any charge for us..but that is what we paid for and it was their mistake that we ended up staying in a standard room on our 1st night. We can't believe she never apoligized us, not only that but she even tried to persuade us that we're just complaining for no reason. We were very disappointed as it was our last days in NZ and we were looking forward to staying in a delux room for the end of our trip.

Reception staff were friendly and efficient The room was poorly serviced, chips of paint in bathroom. A completely unacceptable toilet seat, verified by maintenanace man called in to fix unwatchable TV. Very poor cleanliness of room, marks on furniture and walls. The food in the attached reasurant was totally unacceptable in presentation, taste and price, well below parr for advertising.

I was interested in the location and I appreciated the convenience in relation to the Airport Sky Bus service. The room offers good value and especially with the nice harbour view (914). Security was good and the room, although a little old in styling was clean and comfortable. The airconditioning was excellent and the bed very comfortable. The staff at reception were just excellent - very helpful and understanding when I asked for a one-hour extension of my check-out time. I'll b back again soon. The cost of the breakfast options as shown on the menu and room service advice was not realistic. For a very modest meal, nobody wants to be charged over $30.00 - just for breakfast. That was my only concern.

The service from the staff was really great..nice,friendly and helpful, we also really liked the location of the hotel close to all the rugby world cup action at the viaduct. The room was a bit hot during the night...didn't get a lot of sleep and it seemed the room wasn't very sound proof you could hear the busy city outside...I'm a light sleeper so didn't get much rest

The staff were very helpful, pleasant and eager to assist us which made our stay that much more pleasant. The location was a plus being very convenient to all attractions. The room was large and provided all the facilities a traveller required. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to our friends. There was no safe in the rooms for the storage of passports and other valuables.

the bed was comfy, the decor was lovely and the valet service was very prompt. The room we received looked nothing like the pictures on the net however the last night of our stay we tried to watch a movielink movie but couldn't all ten we tried were unavailable. I phoned reception to see what movie I could watch and I was told his manager would phone back. They never called back which is very disappointing. I will not be using Mercure again.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to queen street and city shopping as well as britomart station. Our room was close to the lifts so could here them going up and down constantly, we have stayed here before but not had a room so close to the lifts.

The room I was given did not appear to be the same as the one shown in the website. The first room I was given was very noisy as it was by the fire exit and seemed to have generator noises in the wall. I complained and was given a different room, however I noted that I did not recieve the paper in the morning even though I had ticked it on the registration form. I was happy to pay the discount price but would have been extremely dissatisfied if I had had to pay the full price of $220 - as the room was tired with paint chipping and stains on chairs etc.

I liked the convenience of the CBD location, parking was excessive @ $40.00 per night - car parks in that location were far more reasonable. The price was very reasonable for a standard room. After I complained about the dusty room, we were moved from third floor to the sixth floor - once I dusted and aired the second room it was very pleasant and fresh with a limited view of the harbour although noisy due to the open windows plus the proximity to the Britamart The towels were rather small and tired - not fluffy and absorbent - these need to be renewed.

The location was great - the service equally - all needs were met and the price - excellent! We had a night in Auckland and evrything flowed - we have not stayed at the Mercure before, but it will be our preferred choice now! I have recommended it to others who live north like we do as the ideal spot for Auckland accomodation - especailly those of us who frequent the Vectra Arena - this was just perfect! Thank you!

The veiws are amazing out of every window. It was one of the better gyms in any hotel that i have been to. It was very hard to get hold of reception each morning when i needed my car, they did not notify the large cost in the vallet parking when booking either. Would have been fine if i didnt have a vehicle.

Location was reasonably close to where we needed to go for buisness on the quay. The room had airconditioning however it was not very good. The Staff were able to address our needs but they didn't come across as professional as I would have expected and although they weren't trying to be rude in what they were saying it still came across as offensive.

When I spoke to the hotel staff about how unhappy I was with the room and that I wanted to move to another hotel they upgraded the room. The rooms were terribly run down and shabby and for the cost of a room it was very disappointing. The air-conditioner didn't work and the toilet didn't flush properly. I had stayed at another hotel the week before and paid less for a much better room and facilities.

Weren't told about car parking fees and had to pay $40,00 a night, this is disgraceful and there was nothing in the hotel to compensate for this incredible fee, made the stay expensive in the end and will not use your hotel again - lobby staff lazy, in it for the game of being hotel employed. No comfortable chairs in the room -TVs substandard and room very dates. Disappointed Regards Trevor Davis Noisy outdated and uncomfortable

We did not like Mecure. Our Superior room was a shoebox designed for 1 person. 1 chair, 1 bedside lamp and simply too small to be called double accomodation. When booking in we were informed that the restaurant was full. Not good enough for paying guests. We were told to try the Viaduct. Tried every restaurant- full. Your duty Manager when accosted rang around and found us a booking at your sister hotel. We went out for dinner. When we returned, went to the Vue bar for a drink to find restaurant 2/3 empty at 9.20pm. An anti pasto platter and wine were supplied foc to smooth our concerns and was greatly appreciated and the actions of your duty manager on New Years Eve were 1st class. Despite this the poor facilities and lack of care for your guests would not tempt us to use your hotel again. It really is not anywhere near 4 1/2 star as your website purports. Check out at 10.30am Sunday morning was a 30 minute affair, and a further 35 minute wait for our car as 1 valet attendant ran to retrieve guests cars. We felt extremely sorry for him. Very poor organisation. David and Lyn Reid

“Our hotel room was not what we were expecting for the price. The room was beautiful with its decor and it was spacious. It had all the kitchen facilities that we required including laundry facilities. The view was fantastic from the balcony and everything was within walking distance. We would go back and stay anytime.” Natalie, Napier |
