Upon checking out, hotel staff told me the charge for the room was in excess of NZ$300 (I don't remember the amount) as opposed to the charge for Booking.com booking of NZ$258. When I produced Booking.com reservation confirmation they accepted the $258 figure you quoted. The lobby of the hotel is under construction. The hotel is shabby and needs a facelift. For the price it was acceptable. |

Location of hotel was good and breakfast facilities were very good. Staff courteous and helpful. Hotel looked old and was in need of refurbishment. Air conditioner in room did not really cool down room. Mini bar prices excessive and internet was very poor value for money - $10 for two hours and only 30MB download - not enough to really check email. |

Handy city location but quiet. Quick and efficient check-in (including upgrade of room!). Overnight stay only so no sevices or facilties used. Breakfast not taken because it seemed very expensive. |

Comfortable room, good price (after discounts) Lobby currently being renovated means current facilities inadequate. Lobby was blocked by luggage making it difficult to move though. Inadequate lobby staff; had to wait nearly 20 minutes to check out. Almost no seating in lobby area. Pick-up/drop-off area too small and blocked by parked vehicles. |

Staff were very helpful to a senior couple. Plenty of helpful advice. Perhaps cleaning staff could have been a little more efficient. |

The Mercure is all about location!! Being near the lower end of Queen Street, it is within 5 minutes walk of the viaduct if its the night life your going to AKL for, its a 2 minute walk to Britomart for trains and buses (both local buses and intercity buses) as well as the ferry terminal. There is a convenience store and internet service directly across the road from the hotel, and shopping and eateries everywhere you look. Again, location was the main selling point for me, & secondly, fantastic rates for location!! Due to it being summer I found the air conditioning temperature needed to be cooler because the room became very stuffy over night and when opening the windows discovered lots of street noise which made it almost impossible to sleep. So crank up the air con temp and this hotel will be A+++ |

Straight forward, hassle free, pleasant and appropriate throughout the booking in and leaving the hotel. just little touches in the interior but could be due to the age of the building. When billing maybe the adult video maybe worded as video one and not'adult video'. |

The location was excellent for our use - cruise ship terminal is very close by. The tour bus and shops were also very convenient. The hotel staff were very helpful in both reception and the restaurant. Good choice of food in the restaurant. The bathroom would have benefited from an upgrade as it looked tired and the taps were difficult to turn off on the wash basin. |

In the heart of Auckland C.B.D. and close to Ferry Building, Viaduct Basin and public transport (buses, trains and ferry/charter boats) Plenty of shopping, restaurants and pubs in easy walking distance. Had I been aware of the parking charges per day/night, which came as a bit of a surprise, I would not have hired a car at Auckland International, but caught a shuttle into the city and hired a car on completion of my stay at the Mercure (3 days.) |
