Great location right on the water. Within walking distance of supermarket, restaurants, and trails.

Could smell the neighbors next door smoking in the room - not much the hotel can do about that though!

Staff very friendly, excellent facilities and clean, excellent close to beach.

Our party consisted of a brother and sister and respective spouses. Staff very friendly and helpful Dining recomendations were spot on. Location is delightful, clean and comfortable. Hope to return for another stay. THANK YOU G&G from Portland,Oregon USA H&R from Auckland

Friendly welcome - very comfortable accommodation and adequate facilities. Waterfront location - easy walk to Paihia centre and wharf ~ also easy walk to Waitangi grounds. a Host very helpful when urgent medical assistance required.

The owner and manager were very friendly and helpful in recommending activities. The owner even drove us to the nearby Haruru Falls walking trail. The beach is just across the road and good for swimming. Free WiFi was really appreciated.

Road was noisy and busy during the day but fairly quite at night.

Staff was fantastic, providing us with additional information about the tours we had already booked--details like what items we needed to take with us, where the tour would pick up, and even provided us extra towels to take since we did not bring extra beach towels with us.

Parking was tricky, especially if you are not used to the left side of the road driving.

The shower in one unit was blocked and water pressure very low. Road noise all night

The friendly service and welcome. Late checkin but no issues Had to delay checkout and staff very accomodating with request. Pity other motel owners could not do likewise. Other owners could learn much from this motel. Thanks Peter I have only one place I will stay on future visits

Great location in good resort, short walk along to main centre. Manager delightful, could not have been more helpful and friendly. He advised on good restaurants locally and trips to do. The large suite was suitable for disabled guests with good access for wheelchairs.

We stayed in the large family unit, and felt that although very clean, the furnishings were dated, giving the suite a `tired` look. Needs an update and a tiled bathroom with modern shower.

We liked everything about Bay Sands - the Manager was the most helpful, informative,friendly person we came across in our whole NZ holiday... Nothing too much trouble and we ate at some amazing places thanks to his suggestions......And if this wasn't enough he even offered to allow us to leave our car at the motel whilst we went on an overnight cruise as it was far safer at the Motel than anywhere else. Our room had a beach view, was spotlessly clean and well fitted out with kitchenette etc - very spacious. If we ever go to the Bay of Islands again we wouldn't even think about staying any where else. Thank you.

Great location. Clean and comfortable room with bay view. Loads of near by places to eat, best of all Shippys fish and chips.

It was well equipped and well appointed to local tourist attractions, supermarket, cafes & restaurants, lovely view of the sea and peaceful at night.

There was nothing unlikeable about Bay Sands Motel.

The view from our room was 5 stars. Looked out at the Bay of Islands. Gorgeous. Also the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. Dropped us off at a trailhead so we could hike one way. Offered so many great ideas matched to our interests! Large suite! Very spacious! Free wifi had excellent signal!

Parking and lack of good parking space

The manager, Peter, was very helpful. Good to have a pet friendly motel in a very convenient part of town.

The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about Paihia and surrounding locations. The staff were always happy and accommodating. They also recommended excellent activities and eating establishments. The single room apartment was comfortable and clean. Across the road from the beach was also a bonus. Only a 10 minute walk to the main Paihia township and wharf. Ideally location.
