The hotel did not provide a "Do not disturb" sign or a chain on the door and I found the housekeeping staff intrusive. They would knock, give me all of 10 seconds to respond, then come in. On 2 occasions, I called out for them to hang on a minute (because I was naked) and they opened the door anyway. Perhaps they didn't hear me.
Around 11 on a Saturday morning, 1 of the managers knocked on my door to collect used towels and advised that the girls would be along shortly.
They came knocking and came in before I had a chance to cover up. I threw on a dressing gown and advised that it was OK to come in now. What I thought would be the routine placement of fresh towels, soap, coffee, etc. turned out to be 3 people, descending on my room and moving my stuff in front of me. Apparently, the manager had instructed them to do full service. I really think he should have mentioned this to me. When 1 of the cleaners asked me to move out of her way, I was annoyed, but managed to stay polite and asked them all to come back in 15 minutes, so I could finish getting dressed and go out. I haven't planned on going out just yet, it was 11:30 on a Saturday morning, but I am a private person and having 3 people in my room, touching my stuff made me uncomfortable.
I had been there almost a week, but if it is hotel policy, to do the full service clean 1ce a week, then I should have been advised of this. Housekeeping should work around the guest, not the other way round. It is for this reason that I shan't be back.
My room was spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. The 2 owners/managers were friendly and helpful.
