Restaurant staff very average to basically unhelpful.
Comfortable room. Helpful reception staff. Excellent hotel transport into City Centre. Good bar and restaurant. Plenty of free parking.
Too far away to walk into the city.
Good Location near the Park and Center. Original Design of the Building./Хорошее расположение. Оригинальное здание.
The room was not as on the Picture (without terrace). Breakfast is expensive and not good./Номер не совсем соответствовал фото и был без выхода в сад. Завтрак дорогой и не вкусный.
Design and atmosphere
friendly greeting by receptionist upon arrival. friendly, happy, helpful restaurant waitress. friendly helpful housekeeping staff. really liked having the restaurant right there on site and available when we arrived so that we didn't have to go out after travelling.
Comfort and cleaniness
Refrigerator very noisy
Room furniture a bit old
Polite staff & very good quality food in the restaurant. Convenient to walk through the Park & into the City. Comfortable room.
No Airport shuttle or bicycles for hire, despite being advertised on website. $25/hr charge for late check-out!!! Somewhere to shower & change would have been welcome, as I had a 27hr flight back to UK at 8pm & had to check out of room at 10.30.
Poor Wi Fi and bedding
The bed was comfortable
The rooms are dated and gloomy. They need to be redone. The television coverage is poor with freeview being only option.
The setting is peaceful and the atmosphere is friendly
Close to city without being too close
Bathrooms could do with updating.
The wide stairs were easy to climb.
There was no parking available in the evening due to functions in the complex, we had to park on the road.
We liked the gardens and the castle feel of the place.
Poor communication and differcult to get info through the booking agent.
location, car park,
Bit tired, but definitely 4 star
Maintenance of Rooms. Too much junk around the rooms. Gardens are not clean. Lot of garbage around.
Location. Staff helpful.
Unable to dine in restaurant. Surely hotel guests should be offered this option.
We enjoyed our stay here, particularly once we were moved into a downstairs room that opened out into the garden (I made an error when booking online- room option wasn't very clear when booking, but staff were very helpful and changed us to a new room the next day).
There was no spa pool or bike hireage, both of which are on the hotel website. We were told that since the earthquakes these had gone, but as the earthquakes were some time ago now, I think the website should be updated. These two things were actually a really big draw card for me when booking as we had our six year old son with us.
Could check emails
Wifi very slow and the password seemed to change overnight so couldn't use Internet until I got new password from staff in the morning
Very good value for money
Difficult to ring hotel directly on landline. After pressing 2 for reservations there is just nothing-no ring tone and its like its been disconnected.
evening meal was superb.
Felt your cost of breakfast too high and options offered limited.
Lovely setting in the spacious gardens, pool (not used by us), quiet location in the hotel, especially the very clean, good quality linens and towels, changed daily. Location in the city good for Hagley Park, city centre and local restaurants.
eating in the restaurant was very noisy as it was full. But we had just had a long haul flight so normally it wouldn't have bothered us as much.
The location was great. Convenient, pretty, green, easy to find, central but sufficiently distant from the city centre to feel comfortable. The centre was very well laid out in beautiful gardens. It was comfortable, spacious and the breakfasts were excellent.
The free wi-fi was very slow. But it did work. A pretty small complaint for a traveller, but not so good for someone wanting to do business.
the container shopping complex and the cardboard cathedral
so much distruction in the towncentre
Better than a motel, gardens are beautiful and location is convenient
Rooms are getting dated and wifi was restricted
