The fridge was broken. So was the toilet. Mold in the shower walls were thin which made for a lot of noise during the night

Response by staff to needs for extra blankets, broken cup, lack of fork and broken microwave. All brought to us as soon as we told the staff about them.

No free wifi. Wifi does not include room rate and must be paid separately. This hostel wifi needs to be improved because of the relatively slowly.

pretty decrepid, cracked vanity,peeling paint everywhere, cigarette burns on blankets, not even soap provided for hand basin (or shower)

Big room, nice tv and stereo, friendly staff, very cheap and close to Vector arena and short walk to queen street. Kitchenette in the room very neat.

Soft furnishings are a bit threadbare.

Helpful reception guy and room was comfry and big too !!! For that price, we were happy for that !!! The location is right smack in town and we loved it very much because downstairs a few second away... There is a small Asian food court where 3 shops sell asian food which is great value for money and good too !! For I am a Singaporean and I know what good asian food is all about !!! There is a good Thai food shop in the food court where local thai couple cook very good authentic thai food !! taste good and great value for money !! why need to go to a restaurant where here is where good thai food is cooked and served like nz$10 for a single meal that is so yummy !!!! great place !!!

My husband and I check into City Traveller Auckland on 25th April 2013 during nite time when no one was at the reception...understandable because in the nite...when one arrives..just call a number and the reception person will come to attend to you. The reception guy was very helpful and we were full of praise of him. For a cheap reasonable room right smack in the city..what more can we say !! well, this is a compliment to the hotel and what we dont like was the dirty ugly curtains which was very distasteful and not sewn properly to cover the whole window!!!!! There was still big gaps inbetween which one can still see right tru !!!! No privacy at all for the opposite building is staring right into your bedroom !! How much does it cost the hotel to properly put up a good curtain for the sake of privacy and comfort for the guests ???

The location to central Auckland and Vector. The poor young boy that had to listen to our complaints and find us another room. The second room we were given was 100% improvement. But still dirty.

The place was dirty, every toilet /bathroom, all the floors and our first room should have been condemned. Room 301 needs major work before it is back up to standard. Water damaged beyond repair to kitchen cupboard doors and bathroom cabinet. , Carpets have never been cleaned, nor the windows. They supplied 2 coffee cups , one was majorly chipped. No glasses. No soap for hand washing. The metal bin had been stood on and tried to be straightened, there was no sofa as in the pictures online. Curtains barely covered the windows and were thread bare.

Location, price, really soundproof rooms, clean sheets and towels.

Room was outfitted with more than I anticipated e.g. cooking equipment, table and chairs.

It is not that easy to find if you are unfamiliar with the location especially at night.

At least it is in the CBD

The area is right next to a place which houses people who have just been released from jail. Area is really dodgy, not just through that alone. Had to go out and meet my girlfriend when she finished work each night to walk her home. Room was not cleaned once in the 4 days we stayed there. Bin not even emptied.

Very run down room - needs attention to maintenance.

The room we had was unclean, stuffy and not like photos. For those looking for a cheap, sleep only room it would suffice. The smell of cooking was everywhere, even in the lift! Next time we will be reading more reviews!!

There was not very Good ventilation so the room was very stuffy!

1. The location. 2. The staff were pleasant and helpful. 3. Budget-friendly. 4. The Backpackers' kitchen and lounge plus the view from the terrace (I only knew it existed on my last (4th) day, which was a bit late - see comments in other box).

1. My room was at the back of the building - I looked at walls/into the rooms of other buildings. 2.There was no sun and little natural light in my room. 3. The shower/toilet were very shabby. 4. The cooking facilities were poor and the electrical configuration looked very dodgy. 5. The TV had poor reception.

-The room was not what was advertised - our "queen bed" was two singles pushed together. - The room was boiling hot, without a fan or air-con. - The room was above an alley full of restaurants, and stunk of food constantly. - We ended up asking for a refund and leaving, as it was un-liveable. - The water pressure in the shower was non-existent.

Close to the city

The guy at the reception was not nice. Paid $25 for WiFi for 4 days and later I discovered I could only connect just one device and download 200mb per day!
