The 4-star Copthorne Oriental Bay offers luxurious accommodations and wonderful views of the harbor and the city. The hotel is located very close to Te Papa Museum and Courtney Place. The many fine facilities include the One80° Restaurant. Here you can enjoy the amazing views from the 7th floor while dining. Also the indoor swimming pool has great views of the bay. Close to everything in Wellington. Beautiful surroundings. Lovely room overlooking all of Wellington. No free car parking which we felt for the price was ludicrous.

I stayed for 3 days and I cannot praise the mostly young staff highly enough for their friendliness and efficiency. Nothing was too much trouble and it was wonderful to think that the many international guests who were staying would be treated to this Kiwi hospitality. Well done.

Staff were very accommodating (E.G. we needed someone to drop off a bag and have it delivered to our room whilst we were out, one of our party arrived when we were out and they were provided a room key, etc) Our rooms were a little worn for a 4* hotel, but they were good value and the location was perfect!

Jeff - front of house person was very helpful and sympathetic to our problem. We were impressed with Jeff's attitude. Desk staff not at all helpful in the first instance but eventually offered us a better price for the room. Carpet was "grubby". Very expensive for a very ordinary room.

Nothing special. Just like zillions of others. Nothing much to complain on except a very cheeky card surcharge which I never saw in the booking details but I'm sure it's probably tucks away somewhere. Petty, petty, petty! Sums up the business model I guess.

The room colours and design, the easy access and the view from the room. Also the curtains were really nice and thick so no light got into the room in the morning. The staff allowed us an extended check out to 11am without any hesitation and that was lovely. Nothing really. The staff who checked us out were not very smiley or warm but other than that it was excellent.

Staff were very friendly and pleasant, there was a pleasant relaxed atmosphere but staff were very professional. The location of the Hotel was great and the views exceptional. I didn't like having to leave my credit card at the bar, I did understand that it was an exceptionally busy day on Christmas Day but I thought since we were staying that the tab could be put onto our room number without having the leave a credit card.

Quiet. Restaurant and bar ok. Reception mucked up my booking and advised it was not their fault. Ergo it must have been mine.

Location Charging for internet connection. Stark contrast to City center policy of free Wifi only a short distance away. Cramped room with little space and only one full size bed.

We loved the View and convenience of locality. Service by staff was excellant. The bed was so comfortable and the cleaning all done beautifully by a lovely lady. Nice breakfast also along with the ease of quick access from our room on the 7th floor. I wish that the lovely bathroom had a larger shelf for 2 people to put their toiletries on please. This is the same problem we faced all through nz except for one Hotel only.

Views, ironing board and iron were much appreciated. The swimming pool was disgusting, the floor tiles were so filthy and old we didn't want to walk on them so we didn't take a swim. Also there were no deck chairs or sunbeds and the walls were peeling and dirty. For a hotel that cost $194 per night this was unacceptable. No fresh milk in the room.

I was badly disappointed as I had booked well in advance of the Nov 5th booking. I have used the hotel for many years prior to it being "The Copthome" I was assured I would have have the six or seventh floor. On arrival I was allocated the 5th floor! The day prior a family member bought a bottle of champagne to the holel to surprise me and my partner. However we never received it until the donor phoned us to see if we enjoyed the treat. On checking, there was a weak apology, and the revelation that the bottle had been placed in room 602, the room we first were booked into! The staff member told me as she herself had put it there! By the way, the bubbly was cold also! Cheers Ralph Bare.
