On arrival we were surprised with a free upgrade from a standard to Executive Suite. The decor and furniture were quite modern and the place was very clean. Staff were helpful. Lots of parking space and the location is really close to town and the waterfront. Nestled in a really quiet area too. No hair dryers in the room - had to go ask for one at reception. The outdoor pool is not heated and there is no spa.

Handy to Whangarei Basin, the hotel was clean and tidy, and well presented. It was great having a restaurant on site, even tho it was not available due to a wedding. The helpfulness of the staff, was great and professional, including cleaning personnel. The decor was inviting, and modern.

It was near to where we were visiting a sick relative. We would have appreciated a clothes hanger in the bathroom.Also a tea towel to dry the cups. If you could make clear, before people book there will be a charge for room service.

Vishal was the staff member who took our booking he was very friendly, helped us with locations and made our stay very enjoyable. The rooms were very clean and comfortable

Room was clean and staff when we arrived were great and even gave us a free upgrade because the place was empty But Since there was a corporate event at the restaurant there was no parking because there is no designated parking for hotel guests. Fridge did not work

I liked the scenic location and the food from the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful - this always makes a stay pleasant if staff have a nice attitude like these ones did. Room was quite spacious. My room (40) could have done with a make over as it was a bit shabby but I think renovations were underway on the neighboring rooms. Old and small TV.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The one teaspoon was very dirty, as if it was used for hot chocolate. So not sure how clean the other items were. The fridge was turned off, and I had to turn it on. There were no ice trays in the room, so I went to the reception asking for ice. She was very friendly and within minutes brought me one glass with a few pieces of ice in it. The ice also looked "old" as if it was in a freezer for ages, rather than fresh out of an ice machine.

We loved how close the Settler Hotel is to everything. After a big day out around Whangarei it was great to retreat back to the hotel crack open a wine, flick on sky movies, put our feet up and just relax. Our rooms were in very modern, very clean, fresh and in quiet surrounding and we must mention the wonderful staff. 10/10

The location is great, staff friendly, rooms comfortable, I didn't like the bathroom, it needed a good make over and paint, it was mouldy in places and needed some updating.

The location was handy to Whangerai's attractions. The room we had was way past it's use by. It needed a total refurbishment. Very disappointing.
