The rate seemed pretty good for the location, room size was fine The room was stated as being either a king bed or two queens and I requested a king on on the booking and got no response. When we checked in we got a room with two "queens" although they were the smallest "queen" beds I have ever seen, my wife and I swear they were doubles. The booking mentioned free coffee and free parking and other discounts, I had to ask at the front desk the next morning about that as the person that checked us in didn't seem aware that we were supposed to get this- I was given a card that showed this only after asking. |

We were very satisfied with the hospitality from staff from our arrival in the lobby until our departure. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The room was furnished to a high standard and was very spacious. Fantastic views were had from the room, which is always a 'plus' for us. If we did consider staying in nz in the future, we woud consider staying at the Grand Chancellor. Thank you. |

Very Nice, great staff, view ok (by NZ standards - by US standards, great). A little pricey, but everything in NZ is. Close to everything downtown, 2 blocks to main square, 3-4 blocks from gardens. |

We loved the feeling of space everywhere - large entrance, large room and large bathroom. The decor colours in the room were a bit sombre. |

The hotel in general was fine. Most staff were very good. Breakfast was good. Great location right in centre of town. Asked when booking for a Kingsize bed. Did not get this on arrival. Had no others to offer. They did change for 2nd night thou. Much better than a double bed for a couple. Also rooms were very noisy. Could hear other rooms & water in pipework running constantly. |

The helpfulness of the staff, the location. The breakfast could be improved, like the need for preordering the toasts. |

Bit businessy, not very personal. A nice stay however, clean big rooms. Wouldn't say best value for money but not bad. Very adequate might be the best description! Wifi is $24.95 for 24 hours = complete and utter rip-off! Internet cafes in city charge $3 per hour or library up the road is free. |

Excellent staff at Reception Dining service needs better training, like meals brought in the correct order, and a long wait for a wine that we ordered. |

Reception Staff were excellent, but training in the dining area badly needed The dining room service we would rate as a Zero. No meal was delivered as requested and in the correct order. How can a waiter give you soup, with no spoon, had to be asked for. |
