Hammocks, quietness, lovely house and very relaxed atmosphere
Place is great, owners are great, home made breakfast, salad from the garden, free bikes to get to the city center, room was really big, everyone was relaxed and laid back
This place was the best backpackers I've experienced. Super friendly and helpful staff, really clean, herb and vege garden, amazing shower and a fire show! We were given maps and advice on nice drives and walks to take to see glow worms. I'd stay here again.
I loved this place, only happy vibes and happy people! Nice and cosy, felt home there...Thanks to the team!
Electric blanks Big double room Comfy bed Beautiful garden Booties (knitted socks) Owners are lovely Fire show at night Good walks, good area
No communal TV $4 for a bath Emphasied donations for things like fuel for the fire show but really it was just to subsidise the performer practice Only 40mb of free wifi, others hostels close by had unlimited for free. Paid wifi too expensive Washing $5 and no dryer Noisy at night, communal area and kitchen next to room and other guests were very inconsiderate
Jugglers Rest had a welcoming and home feel to it. The staff were fantastic and the atmosphere was warm. :)
Bruce and Nikki are the best hosts you could ask for! The house is great, bed was comfortable, shower was warm and powerful. Bruce also took the time to help plan my next venture and was so happy with the recommendation of a day trip to Lochmara. The hosts also made me feel so welcome, having a chat over tea, recommending places to eat nearby and offering things to make my stay more comfortable. My only regret is not taking their offer to stay another night!! Thank you!!
From the warm welcome, to the comfortable beds, to the socks this backpackers ticks all the boxes in good and then goes to excellent with the amazing entertainment and easy atmosphere. We will be back. Nikki goes beyond the expected norm for her guests. Thank you
small and friendly slightly quirky
cold shower and toilet lack of ensuite
Friendly welcoming host. Warm cosy backpackers with excellent clean facilities. Really enjoyable stay. Thanks Nikki
The shared rooms are very nice, big, clean and no bunk beds. You feel like at home, it´s a small hostel with friendly owner. Everyone eats together, you can grab herbs and fruits from the garden!!! I was ill during my stay and Niki the owner realy looked after me!
Homely feel. Friendly host. Amazing garden. Tons of herbs in kitchen
Noise in common area travels to room
Nikki and Bruce were excellent hosts, very welcoming. Jugglers Rest has a really nice atmosphere with the carnival equipment for use. The grounds are very pretty and well set up for relaxing. The building is also historic and beautiful yet much has been invested by the owners in making it comfortable (i.e. insulated and extensive vege garden, fruit trees).
Didn't really find anything not to like, except perhaps that it is close to the train line so you hear the trains go past occasionally.
This is a "home from home" there are so many extras not normally provided in budget accommodation-soap and shampoo in the shower, towels, jams, condiments, garden herbs and veg, even bed-socks! And Nikki is so caring and welcoming- she noticed my husbands infected bites and gave us some salve. Big sofas on the veranda, home made bread for breakfast, lovely music playing, a quiet, homely atmosphere.
We found it a bit of a hike from the ferry with our huge bags. But it's in a nice quiet street.

The bed was comfortable. People were friendly. The explanation of how the place worked was simple and timely. It was clean. Peaceful atmosphere. Felt safe. Sense of sharing and caring.
The night light beneath the door! Music was on quite late... but all minor considering the great place it was. It says clearly on the pamphlet free shuttle to the bluebridge ferry terminal... that was not the case so this needs to be corrected as we had to pay for a taxi.
Very clean and all linen provided. Staff were excellent and it was so great waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread!
My first hostel stay in NZ, and first anywhere in a long time. It was a very friendly atmosphere. Host Nicki was very helpful with finding local amenities. Homemade breakfast bread and jam was nice. Just the smell of the bread in the morning was a wonderful way to wake up.
It was all good.
