Relaxing and no problems with the room, nice staff on reception

The bed cover had marks on it. Everything else was perfect

The housekeeping staff were friendly and did a wonderful job of looking after our needs. Room was nice and warm.

Noise from unit next door and above. We stayed a week and every night our sleep was disturbed and we are use to noise but this was all hours. Had to ring reception and complain one night and that is the first time I have ever done that. I would of thought more consideration would be given to who goes where when one is a long stayer. I also booked Kingsgate because I thought gym facilities were there but I wouldn't call it a gym. Bed was terrible. I can sleep anywhere and sleep easy but all I could feel was the wires from the electric blanket.

All staff very helpful and polite. Quiet hotel considering its location.

Carpet in room definitely needed a deep clean or better still a new carpet - lots of stains.

The charge was $4 more than the online invoice. Not a biggie but wondered why.

I liked that we made the booking online (booking.com) and when we arrived, the Kingsgate had our booking at their fingertips. I liked that while the room we got was probably what we expected for the low price, that when we asked about the option of upgrading, the receptionist was very accomodating.

I didn't like the first room we were in as it was not very pleasant. However, like I said, it was the standard we expected for the low price we paid.

We had been on a trip to the Wairarapa for the weekend and The Kingsgate was our last stop. There were 6 of us friends and we all had no complaints about the hotel. Meal was superb and the accommodation was really lovely.

Nothing really. It was a perfect evening.

Emailed ragrding breakfast and the email was never answered

Being surcharged 4% for using a Credit Card. When making the booking on the internet it was necessary to provide credit card details and no advise was given that there would be a $4 surcharge.

We travelled from Auckland to attend a wedding, the service was excellent, the room great and breakfast a treat .Great place to relax in and stay .

Shower/bathtub combination (acceptable- just not my favourite), queen bed not that comfortable (a bit low lacked support- single bed better but just too narrow), $4 credit card transaction fee (should be included in the price)

Room was a good size.

Noise of the lifts going up and down was very bad. When I turned the bed down the pillow slip I saw was either dirty or stained (not a pleasant feeling). Bathroom had hair And dust behind the door (was remedied) next day. Shower not very powerful.

A good location,close to the city and plenty of space in ones room to stretch out and relax.

Unfortunately the walls are a little thin,my neighbors kept me up till late on a couple of occasions.

I stayed in a superior room and the bed was comfortable and the bathroom clean and freshly decorated. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room was reasonably priced and quiet.

The hotel promised super fast broadband for a fee. The internet connectors were damaged - the system was slow to log on and I was unable to download e mails with even very small attachments. There was no Aircon (or heating) as this was broken. Fine if the weather is warm as windows could be opened but not on a cold night!

location and easy access with good safe parking. Staff were polite and helpful. Fair price. Very comfortable bed. Overall I am inclined to recommend other people I know but would raise a couple of caveats on my recommendation

Rooms were far from pristine. Somewhat dated with no recent freshening other than the bathroom which was modern. Worst feature was the shower. Too small for a hotel. In fact, despite being slim - it was difficult to move around in the shower without knocking the on/off handle. Noise from other guests was unacceptable and we were nearly on the point of checking out at 1am when the noise finally settled. Staff should have been more proactive. Mini bar prices, like most hotels were over the top. Recently I stayed in a 4+ star hotel in Auckland and the minibar prices were very sensible. While a relatively minor issue - hotels need to work out that making minor adjustments at very little cost, that make a guests stay 'convenient' and generating a sense of a real bargain will always result in return custom. I would have to think carefully about booking in again.
