Lupton Lodge  

Host was excellent and provided great advice on local sights. Accommodation was first class. Meals were excellent.

No real complaints but I guess a fly screen on window would have allowed in fresh air without bugs.

Loved the comfort and character of our room, and the spacious grounds with swimming pool. Very friendly and helpful hosts, a very relaxed atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent.

This was our first night stay after flying in from San Francisco. The dinner Andy cooked for us was delicious. Our room was luxurious and quiet, we slept 8 hours, and woke up very refreshed and ready to start our driving vacation. Andy and Karen were perfect hosts, and their B & B was absolutely lovely.

Friendly & helpful

A lot of care was taken to have everything in order. The facility is well maintained. Nice dinner that was prepared upon prior request.

Andy provided us with fantastic hospitality, great facilities and awesome breakfasts. Wish we could have stayed longer at Lupton Lodge. Our room was very spacious, fully equipped, clean and comfortable.

Great room and setting - liked the air conditioned villa, good mix of old with modern facilities. Great pool and lounge set-up Fantastic food (we got dinner as well as breakfast and both were excellent)

Andy and his wife are the wonderful hosts and do their best to make your stay very comfortable. They are also very good at sharing information on resources on the region. The lodge is very charming and facilities are in an excellent status.

The lodge is in the countryside a bit far from everything.

Extremely hospitable - immaculately clean - good food

Everything about the lodge: quiet, plenty to do, meals were beautifully presented and delicious. Rooms were a delight. A city only 10mins away what more could you ask for.

Our room was comfortable well appointed and spacious with a large ensuite which had both a bath and shower cubicle. A games room with pooltable was available to use at any time and an internet computer was available and FOC. Wi fi internet was available FOC in bedrooms and throughout the the building. Very comfortable and friendly. The breakfast was the best we had had in New Zealand.

The location was beautiful as was the lodge, rooms well appointed. The service was excellent, friendly and professional. Dinner and breakfast were superb.

Friendliness, service, advises, cleanliness, facilities

We received a warm welcome from Andy who was always available. The Lodge is a fine house standing in beautiful grounds.

The host, Andy, is amazing. When we asked about day trips (hiking, running, swimming) he was quick to offer assistance. He marked places on maps for us & gave us detailed driving instructions. Places to shop were also marked. Breakfast was made to order and was substantial. The lodge is small (3 rooms) and allows for individual service. Andy offered to wash/dry our clothing before we left so we didn't have to travel with dirty clothing. We just wish our stay was longer!

A gorgeous home beautifully restored. We had a fabulous stay, everything comfortable and the host very friendly. A fabulous garden - on a better day I would love to have wandered around it. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. I would happily recommend your place.

If we were to suggest one thing, Sky Sport for the All Black game. For those of us that have Sky, Prime was very frustrating. My husband persevered but I didn't.

The whole experience was wonderful - fabulous home and surroundings, rooms so clean and immaculate and the food and service was second to none, we are so impressed we are telling our friends and we will be back to stay.

There was nothing we didn't like....

Really relaxed surroundings, beautiful rooms decorated in a modern, country style, super, helpful hosts and great food! The breakfast is delicious and the location's great for a country retreat. We were diving at nearby Tutukaka by day so it was only a 20 min drive away, (the lodge is half way between Whangerei and Tutukaka). Really loved the little extra touches that Karen & Andy provided, such as the home made sweets in the room and the DVD library and games room! Andy's also a great cook. Highly recommend if you're looking for a beautiful, relaxed stay away from it all.

It's not within walking distance to either town, but we weren't complainig about that- it's a great getaway, nothing not to love apart from that!

Building and grounds

Casual appearance of owner did not match elegance of house especially when serving beautiful breakfast in the dining room.

THe Innkeepers were amazing. Andy even made an extra dinner for us.
