Location was good
No free WiFi and breakfast was OK.
All staff were Friendly and helpful.
Shower was not functioning.
Drinking wine in the lounge and watching cricket on TV. Rooms were large, clean, everything worked, comfortable bed. Breakfast was OK. Friendly staff.
Rooms were a bit shabby. Chairs needed recovering and carpet was wrinkly. A bit disappointing when you first walk in but it grew on us and didn't get in the way of enjoying the stay.
Large rooms, everything worked well and comfy bed. Better than I thought after reading reviews on the web.
Great location, good rooms we had a king suite, comfortable spacious rooms, well equipped with good view. Everything you could wish for. Although we did not eat there we heard it was very good.
The room was fine.
The buffet evening meal was not inspiring, although we used it to give us time to go to Mount Cook in the evening. The meal was being served to a school party. We had the option of eating later which might have been better.
The rooms were of a good size with 2 queen size beds and a balcony. A little stuffy at night but the beds were comfortable and the rooms reasonably despite being located on the "main" road. Good location to access Mt Cook and the DoC Information office and shops. The staff were exceptionally helpful regarding information although the brochures that I was after were not available.
No free wi fi even for a 20 minutes which seems to be the go in most NZ hotels.
no skye TV in room
Nice big room clean sheets
Small tv, very out dated decor, shower curtain in the bath, room got hot due to weather but no air-con in the room. Wi-fi you pay for! even b&bs don't charge for that.
Excellent continental breakfast
Mattress very soft
It was clean.
The shower only trickled out. When I mentioned it when we left the receptionist said people adjust the pressure button. I feel housekeeping should check this if that's the case
The indoor walkway to reception and the restaurant was excellent. Staff very friendly
The bed very springy if one moved the other felt it, but there was 2 beds so we just used both so I guess ok
Could walk over the road to Poppies for dinner. First class. Also breakfast for $20 well worth. A pity we couldn't sit in the dining room as so busy
The motel is well-situated for visits to Mount Cook (about 50 minutes north by road). Poppies cafe, just opposite, serves excellent food - some of the best we had in NZ.
The location is wonderful easy to find and very quite. Great service and very comfortable.
Cafe across the street was very good.
Wall-to-Wall carpets from 80's even on the walls, no air-conditioning
Outside the hotel looks nice, staff was friendly
Very outdated motel. Definitely does not worth the money spent, but it was the only option at that time, so had to stay there. Very old furniture - like you are back in 80's. Some towels were with holes. I do not normally write poor reviews, but this one is probably the worst motel we've stayed in nz.
Great size room
Travelling with three older children the adjoining family room set up with 3 single beds worked well for us. Also meant we had access to two bathrooms. Motel was quite close to village shopping area - short drive.
One of the showers didn't work properly, little/no water pressure so lucky we had access to the second bathroom. The rooms are not very sound proof so we heard coaches loading and unloading and guests moving through the corridors at all hours. Restaurant prices were very steep with cooked breakfasts approx. $24 per head for over 15yrs - for a family of 5 that is an expensive start to the day
Nice little spot within a leisurely drive to Mt Cook
Not alot of food options, though the little cafe across the road is quite nice
Reception staff should pay more attention to advising people that there are no tea making facilities in the room, of the location of the room, and whether the location of the room suited the guests. We had an aged aunty with us and she struggled with the stairs
It is a clean and comfortable place to spend the night while traveling through the southern island.
Dated - needing an update
Nearby Lake Ruataniwha
Over priced and outdated. Three towels for four people, one of them frayed. Pokey & couped up in room. Cupboard with fridge & jug in it was old and shabby. Felt caged in with ground floor balcony, looking at a wasted expanse of grass. Utilise this area. Miniature television set. Extra charge for wifi?? :(
