We were given a warm welcome by the owners of this small B&B on a damp October evening. The room was warm, beds comfortable, breakfast wonderful : our choice of cooked breakfast prepared before our eyes, as we sat at table with the other guests and exchanged travel tips.
The small fridge in the room was noisy, but we just unplugged it. The walk from the car park to the room is treacherous if you forget to take the (helpfully provided) torch! The B&B itself is easy to miss in the dark.
Wonderfully comfortable room with a stunning view from our window. French window leading directly onto patio, Lea, the owner, is very helpful and accomodating
The atmosphere of feeling like a family friend - great place run by an excellent hostess
The view from the rooms was stunning. Wine and cheese at 6 p.m. much appreciated. Lea and David were friendly and helpful and booked a helicopter flight for us which was awesome. Breakfast excellent.
Nothing, except that poor visibility shortened our flight.
Friendly owners, the welcome wine and cheese on arrival. Family atmosphere, good breakfast. Location with glacier view
Beds comfortable. Breakfast good.
Overpriced. Even more expensive than top hotels we stayed at.
What a place! Wine, cheese and bickies with Dave and other guests at 6pm. Great local knowledge, helecopter for Fox Glacier left from backyard. From arrival felt like being at home.
Everything, upgraded to honeymoon suite, even though married 38 years. Five star quality, invited for pre dinner drink with host, dave, and other guests. A pleasant experience.
The very friendly owner and the pre-dinner cheese and wine each night
Nothing not to like
There's nothing like eating an amazing home made breakfast while looking out at glacial mountains.
This is a wonderful place to stay in Fox and really stands out from all of the other various motels in the township. Lea's hosting was personal, friendly and warm without being intrusive and the food (and wine/cheese that is complimentary!) is of an excellent standard. Great brekkie! Big an powerful shower which was great after a day up the glacier. Top recommendations from the hosts on places to see that enable you to distinguish between the tourist "traps" and what is really worth seeing. Thank you so much Lea and family, we really enjoyed spending time with you all!
No negative comments at all. Highly recommended.
Welcoming staff, great views, relaxing and nurturing stop on our trip around New Zealand.
Having to leave after one night!
Breakfast was wonderful, room comfortable.
worried about staining specially made furniture
Lea an Dave were excellent hosts, very friendly and helpful. The accommodation was perfect and extremely comfortable. We were also treated to a welcome cheese and wine party with the other guests at 6.30. Breakfast was in the dining area and all cooked by Lea together with a lovely assortment of breads and jams. Would definitely recommend Misty Peaks to our friends.
Nothing we can think of.
The hospitality; friendly, helpful advice, home comforts. Nothing was too much trouble. Good sized bedrooms - easy to spread out for a change. A great place to relax in. A short distance to the shops (just outside the town speed limit) but on the road leading to Lake Matheson.
Nothing (and we travelled around the world several times!)
Nice facilities, manager was pleasant, perfect location for a helicopter flight to the glacier.
When we booked, it was clear that dinner would be available. After a long drive, it would have been nice not to have to search for places to eat. Only after we arrived were we told that the management no longer offered dinner.
The quality of bedding and furnishings. Lovely underfloor heating.
Thought that the cooked breakfast was very meager.
Nice & friendly staff. Delicious breakfast. Leslie even made New Zealand local desert for us!
I found the price went much higher during my stay(end of Jan). NZ$ 325/night for a double room, but starting from Feb, it is around NZ$130+/night.
Host was fantastic and made us feel very welcome. It's a smaller place which allows the personal touch. I'd definitely recommend this to any of my friends.
Everything was really good. Friendly and efficient. Wine and cheese in the evening, variety of breakfast choices. Excellent facilities/room/shower. All round good experience. We will go there again.
Walls allowed hearing some sounds from next room, but not really a problem.
Design of the venue, every room had verandah .thought had gone into the needs of the guests and their luggage - good space for it in room. Initial Welcome and the complementary cheese and wine to allow all guests to meet if they wanted too. Location was ideal, not too near or far from centre allowed walk into centre for dinner. Immediate access to helicopter trips and the Lake.
Tongue in cheek - no criticism intended but was disappointed that the majority of guests were fellow travellers from the uk!
Beautiful views of the mountains complete with their "misty peaks" Our host (Lea) was very welcoming and gave good advice on places to visit in the area. A nice touch was the wine and cheese with other guests before venturing out for dinner in the evening. A large comfortable bed with good quality bedding made for a good nights rest before continuing with our journey.
