The room was superb for the price we paid, really loved it and would definitely recommend this, especially the ocean/sea front room we had TV channels were a bit fuzzy at times but that's just nit picking, everything was perfect

- The spa bath was relaxing. - Unfortunately with the dry weather and wind, it was unpleasant to sit out on the balcony from the afternoon onwards. - There was a lot of construction going on but we enjoyed going out to The Old Church, The Mission etc. - Next time would stay nearer the harbour. For a 5 star hotel, we were not impressed with spending nearly $400 for two nights for a much needed holiday. The main reason was the man and woman who manage the hotel. (Have no idea who they were because there was no indication in the information folder in our suite and we didn't notice any sign/name plate). We arrived after a four hour drive to them both at reception - he was sitting at a computer and did not look up. She was standing and asked for our credit card and put her hand out. No welcome, no pleasantries at all. Asked if we wanted whole or trim milk. Told us our room number, passed over the key and a bottle of milk and said there was no allocated parking. The only information in the folder in our suite (there was no business card) related to the Nautilus and its Restaurant (which we would describe more as a dining room). It was devoid of the other information generally available such as local restaurants/menus (delivery) etc. There was stand at reception with brochures of tourist attractions. The areas leading to the rooms and stairs looked in need of some titivation. The cleaning staff we passed were polite and they did a lovely job of making up our room. We arrived to breakfast on Saturday morning at about 9.20am (a continental which was part of our stay). The dining room was empty but for the man. My husband asked if everyone had been already as it was open at 7am. The man commented, "You're late. We close at 9.30." We chose a table and proceeded to get some toast and cereal. Shortly after, two other couples came in. From the conversation overheard, they had been there before. When ordering a cooked breakfast, we heard one guest say if he was the only one having scrambled eggs, he would have them another way (it was approaching 9.40am). I went up to the counter and asked if there was a sachet of marmalade. The man pointed at the dish on the table and said, "they're in the bowl".

The facilities and quality of fittings were excellent - very modern and well presented. Loved the big shower and comfortable leather sofa and chairs. Excellent continental breakfast and pleasant restaurant. Nice balcony overlooking the beach. Can't believe that in a modern building with such good quality fittings they didn't double glaze the huge bi-fold doors onto Marine Parade. The noise of large truck and trailer traffic passing all the time was horrendous.

Location was ok. Room divided into living area and separate bedroom, would have been much better with one large room. Having a smaller bedroom which had a large spa only left room for a double bed not a queen or king size.

Fresh modern feel, good location. Could not have breakfast delivered to room, had to go to restaurant to eat. Arrived for breakfast in the middle of service, there was only 1 croissant left, and when I asked if there were more coming I was just told "no there isn't" Felt that the accommodation overall was a little pricey for what it was.

Rooms were amazing, modern and tidy. So handy having the restaurant downstairs and loved the food, it was by far the best meal I have had out in a while. Will definetly be staying again next time we are heading down that way. We didnt touch the minibar as there were no prices to let us know how much things were so didnt want to risk it.

- TV in both lounge and bed room - Fantastic view of the beach - walking distance to city - very clean - Terrible WiFi signal, very unstable that I had to use my iPhone as hotspot. Not recommended for business travelers who prefer WiFi. - Did not provide toothbrush.

The Rooms and Spa bath Being told our room would not be ready until after 3pm on day we arrived at 1:40pm. No offer of Bag storage. No apology and sour greeting by front desk. Bloody shocking considering we had had the most excellent od service at The Pillars B& b in Taupo for the previous 2 days. I have to ask, why is 20 hour room hire offered these days? It is not wanted.
