Loved the thermal baths. I was under the impression from the booking form that there were full cooking facilities in the room...which there weren't. Was told that there was a camp kitchen to use...but it only had one frypan (which had a bent base so really hard to cook on as it wouldn't sit flat), and one saucepan (had a curved bottom so hard to use), no sharp knife, no tea towels

Nice location to Turangi and hiking trails. Quite a drive to get to nearest city. Had to drive 50km around the lake to get to the city, however that's not the fault of the Motel just how the roads are laid out.

Oasis itself and our room was not like it was described. Tiny room that was filthy dirty. Fridge smelt like rotten fish. Every time we went into the bathroom there were more live earwigs crawling around. There was a thick pink sticky goop around the taps. Was so hot but couldn't keep the door or windows open because after 10 minutes our room was swarmed with mosquitoes, approx 30. When we went to the office to ask to upgrade to the best room because of the state of ours the lady got nasty, basically called me a liar. She finally agreed if we paid an extra $45 on top of the $80 we had already paid. Only positive thing the new room had was air-conditioning. Room was full of dead bugs all over the beds, dirty footprints on the bedspreads. Blinds on the window were stuck together they were so dirty. Live bugs in the bathroom. Not sure where they get their water from but after having a shower and washing my hair it turned a muddy shade of grey. These marketed 4 star rooms were about 10 meters from the state highway so we were awoken all throughout the night. Highly disappointing after paying $125 and being 100% dissatisfied. Next night, got an amazing room 2 mins from lake Taupo (right in the center city) for $90, so felt extremely ripped off by Oasis. Will never stay again and will warn others to stay away from this dreadful place, with horrible staff.
