Good hotel clean room, The decor is a bit dated but the room was comfortable and warm - The owner was kind to leave a note on the reception as we had checkedinn very late --
Beautiful greenary at the motel with many trees and plants outside , and offcourse the Opononi beach right across which was a fantastic view -
The area is also convenient with convenience stores and restaurants right next to the motel -
It was also very peaceful and quiet --

We stayed one night in the larger bungalow with sea views, and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Robyn has been so welcoming, lovely and attentive, we immediately felt like home. The bungalow was spacious, exceptionally well-maintained and meticulously clean. We ordered a "room service", a home cooked meal made by Robyn herself, for dinner (including homemade ice cream that was beyond delicious!), and loved every bite of it. Strongly recommend staying here - there's loads to do in the area, and Robyn is the perfect hostess. Thanks for having us!

This is a lovely period house that has been reolcated up onto the hill, the views are stunning. The meals we had were all great, simple wholesome food but prepeared well and served in a lovely dining room. lovely quiet spot and we enjoyed ending the day with a relaxing sit on the veranda and a good book.

I should have booked further on the road. This motel is too old and dated and far too cramped among other adjacent rooms for comfort. At $240 /night it was shockingly overpriced. The bathroom was so tiney, you could barely turn around, also the old toilet. The shower had a plastic curtain! ( circa 1970). The place was clean but really too old to be operating espeially at this price. The owner or the operator was pilote and pleasant ( Felicity and Sasha) but really, we were not impressed, in fact VERY disappointed. Location was great but unfortunately the room was dirty and the pool was closed due to health and safety. The staff were friendly and accommodated as much as they could. It was difficult for them because they could see how dirty things were and they tried their best. It needs an upgrade. It use to be such a beautiful place to stay at.

Have stayed here a number of times over the past 8 years. Since the change of ownership you can really see the decline in service and appearance. Villas cost more now than they ever have yet there are broken toilet roll holders, broken TVs, horrible wifi issues, not enough staff, rooms not being serviced and a kitchen that caught on fire. This place is in need of some serious work and adjustments. Sad to see such a historical place in the Hokianga go down like this.DanielNew Zealand - 10Scored 10

beautiful part of NZ, beaches, bush walks, and not too many people around. Food was a little disappointing as due to covid a lot of places were closing early or not open at all. Our dinner at the Opononi Pub was average, unfortunately the restaurant wasnt open for dinner on the Saturday night. This was one place we were looking forward to dining in. The restaurant at The Heads was open, so we enjoyed eggs bene for breakfast which was quite nice. Service Staff here are very friendly.AAnonymousAustralia - 8.0Scored 8.0
Manea Footprints Waipoua is excellent.
Manea Footprints Waipoua is excellent. The area around Oponini/Omapere is well worth a visit for the scenery and history. Unfortunately we didn't get to see Manea Footprints of Kupe so that will be for our next trip.ChrisNew Zealand

Continental breakfast included in room rate was excellent with ample choice and selection, quite a bonus at this hotel, and warm gas fire in restaurant. Reception staff both at checkin and check out offered great customer and friendly service. Bar meal was good and served promptly despite notice saying maybe 40 minute waiting time, staff warm and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel for friendliness and service.

The position is wonderful with immediate access to the beach. Whilst there are very few facilities for us in this location (it didn’t matter as that’s why we chose to stay there) there was a hotel where we ate it and the two nights we were there and that was extremely good. There was a local shop where we go to get supplies. On a five week trip to New Zealand, this was one of the highlights!
