Set up of kitchen with afternoon tea provided.
No cover over outside seating area. Insufficient main entry car parking. Thin walls with noise of occupiers from both upstairs and next door disturbing sleep.
Loved this one. Value for money and a little different. We travelled as a twin bedding option so the room was snug, but the place was spotless, friendly and comfy. Located within walking distance of a large supermarket. The differences were its original life as a private hospital, its rec / lounge room and the spotless communal kitchen along with the very reasonably priced cook your own breakfast. Staff were courteous, friendly and helpful
Not a thing....I would stay there again
cleanliness price friendliness
Accommodating staff who put me in a room so I could see the car as I had a pet. Great room rate for a last minute deal. Clean tidy, warm. Quiet street.
Rooms are furnished well, coming with the expected TV, Wifi, adequate bathroom facility and comfy beds. The lobby area and upstairs are both quiet, decorated with some antique furnishing and what seemed like freshly painted walls. On the ground floor there is nice kitchen space that is fully stocked with modern cooking ware. Alas, they put out some free snacks for guests and allow you to make use of fresh herbs found in the kitchen, a nice touch for those who enjoy cooking their own meals.
The location for Parkside is back out on Kennedy Road near Anderson Park, making this a less convenient choice for those preferring to be closer to the CBD for sightseeing and dining and less practical for those with transportation needs. Lastly, there is limited parking space as well, which could potentially be a problem if this hotel is ever full.
Very clean. Helpfull, friendly staff. Lovely touches with magazines and records around the place.
Access to a well stocked kitchen, with the nice touch of some home cooking
Great kitchen. loved the turntable playing the classics
Friendliness of the girls on daty and their offer to help two oldies carry their bags up to their room on the first floor. The art deco odds and ends everywhere. The open suitcases holding books, the gramophone playing, the wall fittings with teapot and cups, glass jars full of shells. The complete kitchen with herbs for use, the tray of slices - very tasty.
Nothing. Would stay again if we evere get to Napier
handy to town effordable cleaned every day friendly staff good layout and theme
could hear every noise made outside the room
The very friendly and interactive staff.
Handy, clean and well looked after. Staff always obliging
room was comfortable good kitchen to make breakfast good cheap breakfast options if I hadn't brought my food with me cheap free wifi old record players playing old records gave a really nice atmosphere home baking we were in Taradale for a meeting so it was close in a side street so no street noise
Staff very friendly, very clean, family operates unique small motel.
close to family- wer were offered a downstairs room.
beds should be thrown out. first room offered upstairs, about the size of our bathroom. rock hard bed
Home away from home, smiley faces, fresh herbs, Oh an the record player, just perfect! Look forward to the next stay :-)
Clean and comfortable and a quiet location in the suburbs.
If you have phobia's of hospitals, this is not the place for you. Before being a motel it was a private hospital. A motel unit is one of the hospital bedrooms. Strange feeling staying there
I liked the retro decor, very interesting and different. The staff are friendly and helpful. Awesome shower.
The mattress was a bit old and uncomfortable.
cosy, friendly staff but looks like more a rest home with 50s style
fridge need a good clean up
It was well priced and comfortable enough. The toiletries were really nice and the staff were friendly and helpful.
The walls were very thin and we could hear people talking at reception and in the next room easily.
The staff were friendly & welcoming and when out off there way to make us feel comfortable and at home, very clean & homey & its the little things like the daily fresh flowers that get put in your room that make you feel special and welcome, I would definitely stay there again & highly recommend Parkside Lodge Napier
Didn't get to stay longer
Quiet, safe neighbourhood. Comfy bed = excellent sleep
Because Parkside is located in a quieter residential neighbourhood, it is away from supermarkets, shops and cafes. No problem if you have a vehicle.
Proximity to Taradale and certainly good value. Staff great and clean and well presented.
Very small rooms and really only sleeping facilities. If this is what you want then it is great if not you will be disappointed as just a bed really.
The lodge is a few kms out of Napier town centre which is no problem if you have a car. Upon entry, the lodge is clean, fresh and decorated with quirky pieces of interest. The gentleman whom checked us in was warm, welcoming, and gave us a quick tour of the lodge to show us the amenities. Passing the communal kitchen he mentioned that his wife had baked some goods (they were little ginger and cocoa balls covered in coconut - yum!) which were free for guests. Entering our room it smelt of fresh flowers which were in a neat little jam jar on one of the bedside tables. In our private bathroom we had little bottles of shampoo, conditioner and shower gel which were all NZ Manuka Honey products. The attention to detail is was what sets this room apart. From fresh cut flowers, to picture frames detailing instructions (rather than bits of boring laminated boring A4), to a helpful owner sending us to his favourite restaurant (Milk and Honey - you have to go there!), to the espresso machine in the kitchen; it was a delight! I would have no hesitation in recommending this little gem to any one.
