It was reasonably located. Pavilions Hotel is not actually a hotel but rather a motel. The hotel is quite old and showing its age with fairly basic accommodation. It is on a busy highway and therefore quite noisy as well as being noisy internally, with concrete steps and pathways that are quite loud whenever anyone goes past. As the doors to the rooms are glass, the only way to get any privacy is to shut pull the blinds over them and, when combined with having to do the same because of the busy street and footpath next to our room, made for a very unpleasant experience. To have to pay what I consider to be a reasonably high price for this privilege just capped it off.

The earthqake hapened the day we booked out and because of that we were unable to leave Christchurch. The Pavilions Hotel owner and his staff did an absalutely amassing job of sorting out the mess the earthquake left and getting the hotel functioning again. During all of this still looking after their gusts.

Great location. The design of the rooms was somewhat unusual. Good to have cooking facilities, but as a family of 4, we fealt it was a little tight. The stained glass window in the bedroom did not work from the practical point of view as the light woke us up in the morning. Overall however it was more than adequate for an overnight stop. I would not recommend it for a longer stay

Location, our room was lovely. Staff friendly. Wifi wasn't working. Restaurant Meals way overpriced and took 90 minutes from order to delivery to table. Last meal delivered was a salad and came out 25 mins after the 2nd to last meal delivered, a total of 2hrs from when ordered. Room service was ordered, once breakfast arrived the food was swimming in water from the rain. Coffees were spilled everywhere. Room service was also ordered for snacks, 2 Of each item ordered was delivered however had only asked for one of each. Were charged for both even when we immediately said we only ordered one. Breakfast was eaten in the restaurant, charged $27.50 each for a plate of packet scrambled eggs, stale hash brown, stale bacon and oily sausages. Coffees were charged as extras. Underwhelming.

The location was good. The room service was very average and the selection in the mini bar was poor but incredibly expensive with a 300 ml bottle of very average wine costing $19.00.

Location. Our studio room was more of a "budget room" for the price. We were told that all costs have risen in the city area because of the earthquake, and in fact, there didn't seem to be any vacancies in other hotels, lucky we pre-booked. The restaurant in the hotel seemed a bit average and I suspect that the meals are not made from scratch and had that "lean cuisine" type flavour.

That the room opened to the carpark and had big glass doors - I felt too open to the outside, even though the doors were tinted.
