Location and view When I opened the fridge the smell was dreadful and very strong like something was rotting inside. The room was looking tired and uncared for.

Very clean Great location. Close walk to shops, prison museum , Napier Spa . Nice selection of local toiletries. The rooms should have had balconies which would have completed the amazing beach views. No facilities for children. Possibly add a kiddy corner near the reception and close up one section of the bar. Restaurant was quiet and didn't require all the space.

Being a solo traveller, I prefer to eat in hotel restaurants rather than public restaurants and the standard of cuisine at Te Pania was excellent. Also the proximity to the cbd and the other tourist attractions was useful. No much to say here really, other than when I left I had the feeling that I could happily have stayed another couple of nights.

Great location. Bed was very comfortable. There were a few very noticeable stains - one on the carpet and one on the bed valance. Also found a blood stain on the sheet which we are pretty certain wasn't ours - yuck! Also the iron in the room left stains on my husbands very expensive shirt!! I don't see how this can be a 4 star hotel!

It was a relaxed and inviting atmosphere It would appear that the windows in the rooms were not sound proofed. Our room was on Level 3 above the bar - main entrance and we could hear any conversation outside. When we ourselves sat in the same area we had an irrate patron in a room above and bang on their window yelling at us to "shut up"

Clean, fresh, modern, great rooms & comfortable beds, great service, good restaurant, good location in some respects (ie: close to beach, main shopping streets, etc) - but see next panel about noise. Have stayed there several times (selected by my Company not me). Hotel is generally excellent except for the location - it is on a very busy road where every morning Mon - Sat large noisy trucks make their way to & from the Port (along with some Boy-Racers!!) making sleeping difficult after about 5.30am. The curved design of the hotel doesn't help the problem as it seems to focus the noise at the Hotel. The Port road needs to have a curfew for heavy trucks 11pm to 7am - there is an alternative route to the Port they could use. Another thing: Be aware - the Napier City beach is generally not safe for swimming - has a steep-sloping foreshore producing strong under-tows. Advised for strong swimmers only (not children). Try Bayview beaches further North instead - the sand is better there too.

The location was excellent, a short walk to the beach or Napier town centre. It was very comfortable, with lots of room. It was a little noisy from the ice machine outside our room and from the main road in front.

Location and views were excellent. A refreshingly modern, up-to-date hotel. Great beds, and amenities. Breakfast was pretty good, although laking with "healthy choice" bakery goods. (Says my wife, who would have preferred some low fat muffins). I didn't mind the croissants and cinnamon bun but we've been travelling for a couple of weeks so I agree with her that too many of these yummy fatty things get to you after a while.

A nice little hotel with excellent service, and amazing breakfast! We upgraded to this one after staying a night in "The County Hotel", this hotel was cheaper, and nicer in every way unless you're into very old buildings. Charges for WiFi
