that wifi was not available in own rooms
I booked for a mixed room, and i was lucky to be upgrade in a female room. Private bathroom in this room, i have really enjoyed. I was ready to walk and then catch a bus in the center going to Nelson. There is a car in the hostel, and a girl pick me up to the bus stop : cool !!
The site is very nice, and there are plenty of common-use facilities. The room was clean, quiet, and the bed was comfortable.
Wi-fi was weak and did not reach our room. The room was very small so we had to leave our suitcases in the car.
Staff was fairly friendly and helpful.
There were lots of flies everywhere in the room and bathroom.
The surroundings were quiet and pleasant, staff very friendly. It was our first backpackers experience and definetely not our last one. Thanks for a nice stay.
Lights at head of bed for reading. Most budget rooms only have light in the middle of ceiling.
good for young backpackers; good kitchen
our double room had thin walls so couldn't relax or do anything...I didnt have a shower as had left it a bit late and didnt want to wake the neighbours! Had to park round the corner on the street as all parking taken... lots of cars there. Got woken at 5am and several times in the next hour as nearby people leaving with cars. Seemed like working people lived there.
Fully equipped kitchen Good clean bathrooms and showers Pleasant atmosphere
Wifi network was overloaded and our devices were not able to connect
Very comfortable, nice owners and a well equiped shared kitchen. Nice place to stay an relax with hammock, sofas and cosy atmosphere.
Staff. Really friendly and free WiFi
Clean Big kitchen with everything provided Nice free chocolate cake pudding! Nice and friendly man (owner?)
Just a small thing to mention. We stayed in a private room with bathroom at the back ( room 34). Maybe it would be nice to put some lights near the stairs so it is easier to find the keyhole in the dark
Graeme was extremely helpful and went out of his way to help us on several occassions. The room was clean with a good shower and facilites I would expect for the rate we paid. Would stay again. Thanks
Unfortunately someone had had a diesil spill at front gate and the smell was wafting down from front gate, possibly something could have been done to reduce this smell. We had to sleep with windows shut which was OK as it wasn't too hot
I didn't have any physical interaction with the staff as I arrived late and left early, but all the email communication was good.
I booked a bunk in a female only dorm yet somehow ended up sharing a room with two men. Also, I couldn't log onto the wifi for some reason, probably an issue with my phone.
Very grateful for pickup from Picton Ferry. Staff was courteous and helpful despite our late arrival.
Close to town and ferry port.
Very uncomfortable bed - very thin mattress so could feel the wooden slats underneath. Wifi was a bit slow and only available in the communal area.
Friendly staff, outside seating, on-site parking. And not to forget a nice invitation for regular 8pm pudding served to all guests.
It is a good place to stay for young people or backpackers with low comfort expectation and limited need of privacy. We had two rooms with private bathrooms, but still the place was nothing for us as we usually stay at motels. But this was the only reasonable-price option for that night at Picton for our ferry connection.
Beds were extremely clean and comfortable. Shower was high powered. Got good contact information about where to find key. Room was clean and comfortable.
Couldn't get connected to free internet. Although shower was high powered the conections were loose and neededfixing, which I reported and got thanked for.
Even though much older than the typical guests we felt welcome and at home
The staff very friendly and made chocolate pudding with ice cream every night which was free. A very special treat.
Our room was not very private. The other guests and backpackers sleeping in their cars would use the shower and sit right outside our room or lie in a hammock also right outside our room. Very off putting. Saying that I spoke to the owner so he is aware
I enjoyed my stay in this backpackers, friendly staff and really nice place! Thank you!
Free chocolate cake, lovely atmosphere, friendly owner
A longish walk into town, but not really a problem
Good facilities and delicious free pudding
Bed were quite soft.
Had nice sunny patio with chair to sit and read book.
Very relaxed place, loads of space and immaculately clean. Free chocolate pudding and a comfy environment, what more could you need?
Having to leave!
