One of the bar staff not friendly at all.

The location right in the CBD was excellent. The staff member I dealt with was very friendly.

The room felt a bit small but it was still good value for the price.

The oldness of the Building

No Lift, and front rooms very noisy.

Great in city location. Excellent staff and owners. Made me feel like family. Especially Paul (manager) and Tanya (housekeeping).

No elevator but they were always ready to help carry bags if desired.

Stairs - but Im lazy

The atmosphere was wonderful quite old world hospitality. Staff were wonderful,friendly and helpful

An absolutely beautiful building! The pub is great as is the restaurant. Our room was on the third floor with windows at a busy intersection, but quiet and easy to sleep for a light sleeper. We enjoyed the food and staff thoughtfulness.

The struggle for parking was an unprecidented travel experience! Prices like $6 the first half hour and $4 for the next ones, but no overnight parking access was quite a challenge. Finally, with help from our hotel owner,we found overnight parking at the Sky Casino for $40.

Clean rooms in an excellent location. The bar offers food and excellent beer brewed on site and is open late. Great value for money.

Great location and atmosphere, and the staff were friendly. There is free WiFi in the lobby, and depending on where your room is, you might get it there are well.

Although I sent a note indicating I was checking in late d/t coming in on an early am international flight, I found out the hotel does not open until 9:00 am, so if you come in before then, you may need to wait. There is a lovely café across the street (Hollywood) where you can get some breakfast and a tea/coffee and wait until they open.

The location near the harbor and one of the most attractive streets.

No friendliness, never any question about your stay. The room is so small you hardly pass by your bed. No table, no chair ( just a stool ), neither a coat hanger , nor a wardrobe.

I loved the bar downstairs with great drinks and food. The bartenders were wonderful. Particularly the handsome Paul Murdoch-Very helpful and friendly. Great location to bus stops and ferry. The rooms were small but clean. The only negative was having to carry your bags up all those stairs!!! But the sweet staff and great beer more than made up for it. Truly a value for the location. Would recommend to anyone traveling to Auckland.

Convenient central location. The character of an heritage building.

Very small room, without table, desk and wardrobe. No free wifi. Room was not serviced after the first night.

The location was very convenient. The small fridge/kettle in the room was a very nice touch.

Really cool historic pub--the beer and food were delicious. Although the hotel's been taking guests for 100 years, our room appeared to be recently remodeled--small but clean and with a nice en suite bathroom. Great deal for a great location in Auckland.

Interesting accommodation above a bar. Staff friendly and helpful. Great location near tower. Good value.

The noise from the bar was not a problem on the third flood but the walk up to the third or fourth could be a problem for older travelers. My room was directly above the second floor banquet/party room/restaurant and quite noisy but tolerably. Ask for a room removed from this area.

- Very friendly staff, clean rooms - atmosphere & design more like a bed & breakfast

- No elevator, but that was only needed when I checked in with my suitcase, and the manager was kind enough to carry it up. Thank-you - only 2 channels on TV, but was mostly out during the day.

This Hotel oozed character and quirkiness. Staff are friendly and very helpful. The room was a tat small, but this is to be expected in a Hotel of this period. Food was great with a lovely setting outside on the balcony, which was lit up and provided a lovely atmosphere, Bathroom and bedding clean and fresh.

Have to comment on the lack of lift, but this again is due to the period of the building. We found lugging very heavy suitcases up 3 flights of stairs nearly killed us, and assistance would have been beneficial. Stairs to bar and restaurant would make this Hotel unsuitable for those with mobility problems ... or very heavy suitcases!
