It's unfortunate that Napier, due to still struggling from the storms last year and the harvest staff requiring lodgings, it is very difficult to get reasonable accomodation. We visited Napier several years ago and absolutely loved it.

Nice town and some interesting things to do there including Art Deco guided street walk. Aquarium is interesting and a good hours visit. The esplanade is a very nice walk. Te Mata Peak is excellent.
The shopping in town is good although a 20 minute trip to Havelock North is an excellent shopping, cafe option and on the way to Te Mata Peak which is definitely worth a visit.

Napier is a gorgeous art deco town.
Napier is a gorgeous art deco town. We had dinner at "Restaurant Indonesia" our first night and it was absolutely delicious. Generous sized meals and very authentic. Second night we went to Portside for the $25.00 steak special. We were amazed to find out this price included a beer or cider and the steak was good. Would recommend both of these places to eat. Mondays & Tuesday nights a lot of eateries are closed so we were fortunate that we chose well with the fewer options available.
Take a walk around town and see the beautiful art deco buildings. I would recommend at least 2 full days in Napier as the wineries are a must do as is driving to the Te Mata Peak.

Napier is a lovely coastal town with a small-town feel.
Napier is a lovely coastal town with a small-town feel. Lots of cafes and vineyards though the restaurants were just ok. Food was hit and miss. We batted .500 for meals, getting one good dish and one not so great at each meal. Easy to walk to restaurants near our hotel at Ahuriri Beach. But the marine parade was a 40-minute walk, so you might need to drive that. Highly recommend Mission Estate Winery tasting.

First visit to Napier and it was quite impressive.
First visit to Napier and it was quite impressive. The town centre and the main street - Marine Parade, were impressive, especially to someone coming from Auckland.
We loved the Art Deco buildings and the turquoise waters of the sea. Lots of great walks by the sea.

So much to do with children and all ages of the family.
So much to do with children and all ages of the family. Love how they have playgrounds for all ages along the water front. Great food place and love the Art Deco places. We loved the sun flower garden in havelock.
Went up to the look out was amazing views on a sunny day
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Art Deco Masonic Hotel and only wish we could have stayed for longer. The decor and furnishings throughout the building are exceptional, we felt as if we were in The Great Gatsby. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout and our room was delightful. The attention to detail everywhere was superb. The hotel location is fantastic for exploring Napier. We particularly loved the first floor outside terrace overlooking the sea.
We really enjoyed our stay! Amazing right from the get go, the lady who checked us in was super nice, our room was lovely with amazing views, fabulous restaurant & bar staff and incredible food! They also have onsite free parking. We asked for a late check out and they had no problem offering us 11am check out. They are so close to all the fabulous things Napier has to offer! Totally recommend starting here!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room had plenty of space, comfortable bed, lovely decor, bright and clean, with a great view of the town and some sea view.
We really appreciated the notes and lovely touches you did to make us feel so welcome, like the welcome book with history of hotel, food in fridge/ counter and sharing things to do in the area.
We had a spacious room with a separate bedroom for the kids, which worked well. Everything was clean and tidy and just what we expected. The location was excellent ... not quite in the middle of Napier but right on Marine Parade, across the road from the beach and Aquarium, and an easy 10 minute walk into the town centre. We enjoyed our stay.
We had to stay in Napier for an extra night unexpectedly, so were very pleased to find a room in Motel de la Mer. They were extremely accommodating and allowed us to have access to the room early. The staff were very friendly and pleasant, the room was exceptionally clean and well appointed. I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Nice BB 10-min away from Napier by car. Venue is renovated and spotless; comfy bed and great TV channels!! you can park own car. Fresh products provided for breakfast. Hosts very courteous and approachable. So thoughtful they left fresh juices and beer for us on day of arrival! Thank YOU!
Great location, walking distance to the National Aquarium of New Zealand and city centre. On the beachfront main street but not noisy. It's our second time staying and again it's pleasant. Good for ppl who wanna spend a couple days exploring Napier city.
The hotel could not have been more perfectly located in Napier. The morning view is amazing and the city sounds at night are great. Great walking distance to ample restaurants and points of interest. Looking forward to coming back again some day soon.
The Hotel is perfectly located in Central Napier, with period perfect fittings an furnishings. Lisa our hostess was absolutely brilliant she took care of us from check-in to departure, her knowledge of local places & things to do was fantastic.
A small but very comfortable and spotlessly clean room.
And! It had a microwave oven, unlike too many other hotel/motels!!
Only 5 minutes by car to the CBD and the beach.
The staff were most welcoming!
So good waking up to an ocean view. Loved a good soak in the big spa after a long day walking around the marine parade. Absolutely enjoyed our stay highly recommend this hotel.
Location is the key here and great car parking. Stayed with an overseas visitor as they wanted to see Napier. Easy walking distance to inner city. Nice to be on Marine Parade.
The beach area in front of hotel is popular and has a boardwalk. The room was large and had everything you needed. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. There
It was a very cute hotel. Very modern. Every staff person I encountered was very accommodating. Restaurant and bar was great too. I would definitely stay there again.
