Its a sweet little hotel. The staff are young but extremely helpful, articulate, efficient and friendly. The rooms are impeccably clean, and the location is awesome, particularly for the taxi from the airport and going out at night, or even grabbing a bottle of wine and snacks at New World. The rooms at the front have great views. Always really well heated and warm which you need in Wellington, but not everywhere appreciates that. The rooms are a little old fashioned even though they have been updated, and it can be noisy on the weekend with boy racers etc. however, the hotel is priced accordingly and is well worth it for those two small inconvieniences. Don't even consider staying anywhere that is similarly priced as they will be grotty, unless you get the same deal at the Ibis and then you could consider it if you prefer the other end of town and the more modern look.

We liked the location as we could walk to all the things we wanted to see such as Te Papa, Cable Car, Parliament and along Oriental Parade. The room was warm and comfortable. we would have liked a more up to date TV

Handy location to Te Papa and downtown and rerasonably priced the room I had on the 6th floor smelt of rising damp. You could smell it on the landing and the room, especialy the bathroom, even worse. Would not stay there again because of this and is the reason i marked comfort as fair. Place needs an upgrade, dated, dowdy.

Definitely the location, it's right across the road from the supermarket and a 2 min walk to Courtney Place. We got up on Sunday morning and went to the food market on the waterfront - everything was so accessible! GREAT view from the 11th floor over the city. The room was clean and tidy. It's quiet dated, I'd say 70's? It was dark in the hallways. Nothing that a lick of pain wouldn't fix. More modern - fridge and tv would be good. It was really WARM in the room and there was no way to turn the heating off, so we had the windows open which was a bit noisy on Sat night, but the guy that did the haka at 3am was amusing :)

The location of the hotel is excellent. From the night life of Courtenay Place to the Sunday markets at Shaffers Park. This was the first time we stayed at the back of the hotel & in future I would request one of the front rooms with a view. My understanding they are the same price but the front rooms much better than the back.

The location was very good and the staff were friendly There was a taped crack in our window, there was no air conditioning and the sun streamed into all the rooms due to there positions. The hotel is 'tired' and could do with a revamp.

Easy to find and ideally located with great harbour views.Pleasant , competent staff made arrival and departure a positive experience. The room was clean, comfortable and well presented and had everything needed for my overnight stay. Good value for money and definitely worthy of a recommendation.Parking was also convenient.

Staff very proffessional, friendly and helpful Excellent location in the city and on the waterfront. Heaps of restaurants and entertainment within easy walking distance. Prices were very reasonable. Food in dining room was very good. Room and facilities were very clean. Parking a little expensive for what it is and not as secure as it could be. Decor a bit dated. Room facilities a bit sparse.

We arrived at the Bay Plaza at midnight following a late flight. We were welcomed, offered help and advice and wished a good sleep. Our room had been warmed, and was everything we expected. Desk staff were very helpful and respectful, we would recommend this hotel.

Location - Nothing else. Cleanliness was appalling! Grease stains on bed even! hair on the towels! Decor and furnishings were severely dated and smelt as such.

Whilst I knew that Hotel was dated and was an older design, expectations were expecting average. However was pleasantly surprised to find that decor was pleasing to the eye, room was exactlly what I needed, and overall as more than satisfied with location , freindly staff and stay. Will definately book same hotel when ever I revisit. 1St floor resturant, uninviting. Could not be botheed to stop lift and inspect. Easier to walk short distance to city cafes etc.

The location was superb and hotel room was great just what we needed to stay the night and then early start to the airport in the morning. View was great and would definitely stay here again so central to everything and carparking which is hard to find sometimes in Wellington. Looking forward to my next visit. We went to Unveiled at Te Papa which was great and well worthwile.

easy location to shops, restaurants, Te Papa, entertainment etc. very uncomfortable getting in and out of bed as very little space between window and bed especially for senior people, would have been impossible if we had been overweight! Answer to question below ; Maybe, above is the reason.

“Excellent,excellent- we had our evening meal there and it was absolutely delicious. We liked that the wine was picked for the courses and it was really good- desert was yummy. The food at the conference was also superb. Staff were great. Loved the indoor pool- few minute walk to TePapa which I had never visited- car parking was great with the service to park our car for us, as we are from the rural area I was really nervous about having to find parking. A+++ for everything -we will stay there again if ever in Wellington. Thanks” Marilyn, Hawera |
