Scenic Hotel Te Pania enjoys a waterfront location on Marine Parade, overlooking Hawkes Bay.
Score from 247 reviews Excellent
The relaxing atmosphere and the excellent service. The location of the hotel is also great only a short stroll from Marine parade. Dinner was the best bar meal I have ever had follwed by an evening walk along the foreshore.
Only staying one night
Location, staff, sympathetic renovation of building.
They offer their guests free port in their library. That kind of says it all. One of the best sleeps I had in NZ.
Beautifully, lovingly restored to Edwardian/Deco splender. Friendliness of staff is trademark Napier/NZ and made us most welcome. Great food in on-site restaurant with excellent NZ wine list. We loved this hotel and can't wait for our next stay.
Friendly & helpful staff. Food was fantastic.
Old world charm, courtesy of all staff, excellent location
Everything except -
Beautiful art-deco building, friendly staff, comfortable room (with airco). Great breakfast.
In our room we had no acces to Wifi, but lobby and library were great places to sit, so we considered this a minor.
From the moment we walked in the door it was a pleasure. This old building has been refurbished in original timbers etc and is a credit to its owners. John the duty manager who greeted us was very friendly and was great at sharing his knowledge on the building and what it has to offer. Nothing was too much trouble and he was very obliging. Even though we arrived later in the evening both the dining room and the bar was available to us for dinner. We choose the bar and snug area where we were served by a lovely young women - I think her name was Maddy - but I’m not sure. She has excellent wine knowledge and was more than happy to offer suggestions of things to do the following day. The food was excellent as John had said it would be. On our way back up to our delightful room we stopped into the library to have our glass of complimentary port – what a nice touch. The following morning we were lucky enough to have Maddy serving us breakfast and again the food was yummy. We certainly will be telling others to stay here and I can’t wait till we get to return…next time for more than one night.
That we were only there for one night.
Atmosphere, restaurant, bar, staff - in face everything
Nothing, couldn't fault it
Well located and a classic building done well. Staff were excellent and we enjoyed the class of the in-house restaurant. Fits nicely into the Napier deco experience.
the overall atmosphere was charming with fascinating historical information every where you looked, food and service was excellent. After a drink in the quaint Churchill bar and a lovely meal in the dinning room it was then delightful to retire to the library for complimentary port followed by a restful sleep.
Our stay was to short and we were sorry to leave it is actually hard to fault as it is so different from your run of the mill hotels it just leaves you with a lasting positive feeling again hard to fault.
The character of the hotel interior was in keeping with the exterior design, the staff were friendly and courteous at all times.
The quality of the restaurant food was not quite up to the expected standard of the hotel
Nice feel about the place great vibes and friendly helpful staff. Will be back
Service was excellent Staff excellent Amenities
The rain Being on 2nd floor WIFI didn't work
In a country where so many of the accommodations are very modern, this hotel was so luxurious! Great value. So fitting for a town like Napier! Great location to downtown and waterfront! The architecture is breathtaking, with a million little details that bring you back in time. We had a private balcony that was awesome and the bar downstairs opened to the street where you could enjoy a drink outside. Wish I could remember the name of the precious brunette at the front desk....she was absolutely efficient, so friendly, and just adorable! It was an experience, not a hotel stay!
Didn't love the restaurant which had just gotten a new chef and was using the old menu for the last night. Maybe when he started cooking his own signature dishes the food got better.
Wifi was free. Staff were friendly and relaxed Fabulous location Complementary port in the library was a nice touch!
Staff were very friendly, the manager made a point of welcoming us, that was a lovely touch. The room was beautiful, very comfy and tasteful. The location was superb and car parking directly opposite the hotel. Lovely hotel with lovely, friendly and helpful staff, as we say in Scotland, disnea get much better than that... Would definitely book again if staying over in Napier next time we visit NZ.
The careful mixture of history and modern facilities. Friendliness of staff. Good food. Excellent value for money especially with it including breakfast.
Our only criticisim was that the TV didn't work properly and our neighbours in the next room had a very long shower (at least an hour) which we could hear
Location, bar & restaurant, staff, comfort. A real classy hotel in a beautiful place on the coast.
This is a superb, classy hotel in the old style. It is gracious, charming and comfortable. The staff are exceptional and the service and food first class. Just wish we could have stayed longer.
Nothing to dislike.
Staff, staff, staff. Multiple types of fresh fruit free in the lobby. The location was in the center of the Art Deco district and 2 blocks from the beach.
Nothing about the hotel. A quiet downtown. It was hard to find an early morning coffee and breakfast(6-7am).
I loved the quaint old style of the place and the location to my conferance was ideal. The staff are great and Karl is tops with his recomendation of wines and food, all round a very enjoyable experience and if we are in town again I am sure to book again. The Sherry in the library was such a good touch.
I did not like having to go home so soon.
2 night stay and was perfect. Would visit again. Lively old time charm and service.
