The Crown Hotel  

We liked our room. Very clean and spacious for children. The king bed was great. Slept really well and the linen was lovely. Kitchen well stocked for cooking.

The comfort of the lounge suite. Was a little hard but otherwise good.

The Crown Hotel is located near to good restaurants in the Ahuriri area of Napier. The Napier Arts Deco Festival is an excellent event, not to be missed if in this area at the time.

Hotel needs to update Wi-fi so available in the rooms not just near reception.

Cooked breakfast was not of good standard .poached eggs not soft ,toast was soggy, a lot of bacon but was greasy.

Very nice hotel over looking beach. Very retro looking. Maintained in excellent condition,both outside and inside.The nicest hotel on our entire trip.

The room described on the booking.com site didn't match what we got. We specifically chose the Crown Hotel because of the room with a bath (a bath was advertised), but it turned out that the deal was not for a room with a bath which was disappointing.

Spacious rooms and friendly staff.

On arrival they had only allocated 1 room for us instead of 2 (booking had been confirmed as 2 x 2 bedroom suites) and they were fully booked. Fortunately they had an apartment available, the apartment was a big upgrade however they were obligated to accommodate us. The on site manager said that we could have the apartment but had to pay $40.00 extra per night. We did so as there was no other appropriate accommodation available in the area, however I do have an issue with the fact that it was their fault but it cost me extra. The front desk staff were very apologetic and kind. I personally thought it was a very bad decision on the Managers part. The apartment is right next to a pub which was very noisy on the Friday night, otherwise it was lovely.

Loved the suite we stayed in with its fabulous amenities and facilities. Very clean and modern - every "mod con". Great large bathroom. Wonderful eco-friendly amenities. Well-stocked mini bar and everything provided. Very roomy and luxurious. Terrific location too and very quiet. We were pleased that we did not stay in the city at this time of the year. The hotel restaurant for breakfast, "Milk & Honey", was excellent.

Our room was very hot and we had to have the curtains closed and the air conditioning on all the time. Not ideal when you want to have natural light and not have to put the electric lights on. And when you did open the curtains you could see straight across the road into the hotel there, and they presumably could do the same. Not very private on the balcony. Perhaps a different room would have been better. We were also given incorrect information about the pizza restaurant (opening hours) and about breakfast. Perhaps this was because we stayed over the New Year period and no-one knew the exact situation.

Everything the facilities were excellent value for money. Room was comfortable, clean and well designed. Sea views were great and location brilliant but.......

Although an excellent mini-bar was provided and a well equipped kitchen there were no glasses. We didn't fancy wine or bubbly out of mugs!

Everything, especially the gracious staff. They could not have been more helpful.
