Good bed, we brought our own pillows. Free Wifi is a bit iffy, depending on your room and location within the room.

Good value and comfortable. Stair access rather than lift access, the window shades needed to be fully shut to give privacy.

Reception and bar area well appointed and the view from my room was majestic - Mt Taranaki, awesome Areas in my room had not been thoroughly cleaned - mulitple cobwebs at the back of the television and in the bathroom on top of and behind the door. I raised with reception and they called immediately house keeping to address and was most apologetic. Handled it well/

nice friendly staff. Good room had most things we needed. We paid for a king suite which the last time we stayed there we had a queen suite to which I thought was better. We had a door to go to the patio to walk straight to the marbles restaurant. The room we stayed in didnt look by all means a king suite so was a bit dissapointed. I do suggest that each room have a toilet brush haha (males are gross) If I had stayed in a king suite like it stated I would be alot more happy but the amount I paid (only $115.00) I cant really conplain. I got a good deal. I just preferred the last room I had.

The staff were all friendly and helpful. When it was noted on check-in that we had a lot of luggage our room was changed to a ground level room, noting there were no lifts. The decor was very modern and classy. We arrived too late for dinner but had a great meal in the large and open lounge/bar, where the bartender gave us good tips on beer. The food was great and the environment relaxing. Our patio was lovely, as was the pool. It is only a couple of blocks from the beachfront walk, and right in town. No lifts could be a problem for some.

Layout and decor. Clean and modern. Staff very helpful. Facilities excellent, including lovely gardens and internet access, daily newspaper and room provisions. Location excellent. We would return. Spa was cold all week, despite requests to raise temperature. Covers always off - and surrounds needed cleaning - someone should be picking up rubbish outside every morning. Guests need to be told not to slam the doors - not the hotel's problem. Car parking very tightly spaced.

This is not the first time I have stayed at the Devon, As usual it was clean and comfortable. The room served its needs, the staff were friendly and efficient. They still do not have internet in the rooms, holding an online business meeting in public place is not very good. Also this visit the room I was in did not have a comfortable chair.

Everything was great and the staff was more than helpful. But even with the phone incident I was happy with my stay there. Lovely place friendly staff. My phone wasn't working in my room, once they got it going had to wait till it charged itself so had no phone for the weekend. Had to keep going to either reception or the bar to order room service or to inquire about anything. Had ordered a bucket of ice from reception waited an hour for it in my room before coming down to the bar to get it myself never told the receptionist I got it didn't matter as she never brought anything up anyway. I gather it was busy and she forgot. But it was ok I understand as it was busy.

I liked the friendly and helpful staff. Being woken up by the noise of cleaners outside my room. Really bad Internet connection, only available in a few places. Tiny pool. The manager suggested I use a bike but didn't warn me that the frame was covered in oil and I ruined a pair of jeans, fair enough oil on a chain but clean the frame.

Close to walkway and ocean front Nicely appointed rooms ie quilts, bed linen We were offered two choices on arrival 1) A small cramped room with airconditioning - one double bed - a table and two chairs?!? - 2) A large room with two double beds no airconditioning - with window opening onto busy road. Staff basically unfriendly and unhelpful, no explanation on our arrival was given regarding the above two options - it was well you can have this or this? No shower cap.

Overall I really enjoyed my stay, the room were clean and well supplied, the price was right and that is a key consideration in the current economic climate. Add the that the proximity to the sea walk way and the city you have a great location. Plus they have complimentary access to a very good local gym. I would prefer to be able to get wireless internet in my room.
