As a well travelled couple we were disappointed with the lack of a television in our room, the quality of the linen, the lack of a fridge in the room and the security of the room.
Lovely character cottage with very friendly hosts.

As a lone traveller, the room was a little girly and the bathroom at times a little small for my size.
Great location in easy walking distance from the centre of Picton and the the ferry terminal. Facilities were excellent, clean with great communal areas. Continental breakfast was delicious and then followed Ian's smoke salmon , scrambled eggs and of course Paula's legendary travelling muffin. Really the highlight of the stay was the hospitality of Ian and Paula supported by great conversation and local knowledge.

The convertible bed was not that thick so not as comfortable as a real bed.

I've travelled 3 weeks in New Zealand and the Gables is the best I've been, it's like being at home! Ian and Paula are wonderful, friendly, kind, funny, everything positive you can think! The room was perfect, large and comfortable. They offered a very good breakfast, and in the meantime you can talk with them like friends. And the hot homemade muffin that Ian and Paula give you before leaving? Fantastic! If you are in Picton, this is the place you must stay!
