Location, Nice staff and bar, geest pool area, big rooms
Wow, the wifi was expensive, very limited free wifi and then the rare goes through the roof
Friendly and courteous welcome at reception. Also helpful.
Very outdated bathroom with broken tiles around base of shower. Leaking shower tap with green algae down the wall. Useless shower curtain.
Very helpful reception staff.
There was a health issue, along with a safety issue with the bathroom, with cracked and big chips out of the washbasin and shower sill. A dripping shower with green algae down the wall. I did take photographs of the offending issues. A long awaited upgrade for safety reasons, is urgently required.
Old, tired & run down. Booked in May 2014 for stay in January 2015, travelling with adult children, while not expecting joining rooms didn't quite expect one room on level 1 the other on level 3 and at opposite ends of the complex.
The location was perfect, we didn't use our car for 2 days as we could walk everywhere.
Problems with getting our Security Deposit returned, this should not have happened.
Would have like air conditioning colder fridge
location was ok , but we couldn`t see much of a view, beds were ok , kids enjoyed the pool.
Gosh where to start !! Receptionist was very hard to understand, didn`t like her manner. Got a bit snooty with us, wanted visa payment for 3 rooms to hold . Rooms were expensive and not like the ones shown on the website. I wanted to leave when I saw the rooms, but we couldn`t as we would have to forfit the entire cost. They were old looking, carpet was worn in several places, wallpaper peeling, tv on the movie channel had very bad interference in all the 3 rooms . Bathroom dirty, shower next to toilet with just a curtain between them , so the water would go everywhere. There was no free wifi. No hot water to shower , some malfunction. Which they later fixed. But water just trickled out of the shower head. The rooms I`d say are in desperate need of a refurbishment. I complained in the morning to a different receptionist (whom was quiet plesant). Only to find another guest putting her complaints in. I will not be recommending this hotel.
The room wasn't clean it also could do with upgrade looks like it was last fitted out in the seventies!. The room was noisy especially the the was some pipes behind the wall that at times were very noisy. Television did not work too well, picture was poor and the some of the stations the signal was corrupted. I did not sleep too well that night. Felt that we had been dumped in the particular room reason because we booked through booking.com.
Very handy Reception staff friendly and efficient Complimentary newspaper in reception area Great swimming pool
WiFi should be complimentary, at least for 30 minutes like the other motel in Picton we stayed at offered. Bathroom becoming a bit dated- chipped enamel in basin.
We stay here because of the view
Not value for money. I stay in many hotels around the world. This would rate as one of the worst.
Excellent food, great service
No dishwasher, carpet may need to be renovated. Toilet seat was cracked, bathroom floor should also be renovated.
Great location and views. Paid extra for a harbour view room which was nice - possibly a little expensive, however would probably stay again. Decided to minimise cost by purchasing takeaways from Kiwi Takeaways across the road - they were amazing and we enjoyed them with a wine from our deck - got the best of both worlds.
Minimal TV channels and NO free wifi from the hotel - time for hotel to get current especially due to the cost of accomodation. Re wifi - it is possible to log into local hotspot however not prepared to take the risks associated with this. Cost of breakfast - $22 per person for continental - we had muesli, fruit & yoghurt purchased from local four square which we ate from coffee mugs. Total cost $10 and we took most of the muesli packet with us.
Location and view.
Old room, old bed, old decor, shared balcony, bathroom, entire room was old, dusty, dated. Wifi was not free, outrageous for the quality of the room.Bathroom was pokey and the floor in near the bed was boiling, something was burning underneath the floor. Oh, no air conditioning!!!
Location staff were friendly
Cleanliness was appaling
We had a room with a view which was amazing. Staff were very helpful. We found it very clean and just a two minute walk to town. I'd definitely recommend this hotel.
The nibbles in the downstairs bar were dry and not tasty. Also the free wi-fi didn't always work. But these were minor irritations for an otherwise fabulous hotel.
The view, the comfortable bed and that the sofa was light enough to easily reposition for us to take advantage of the view
Our dinner for 6 people was disappointing and overpriced; the kitchen had run out of vanilla ice cream (the children disliked the pecan which was served instead). A small matter considering the state of world affairs but important in the holiday context. I really dislike it when staff ask my companion if he has "finished' and whip away all his dishes while I'm still eating. This seems very rude to me; it happened both breakfasts even though we were not late for the meal.
Very central location with great views.
The wifi was only free for 30 minutes in hotel lobby. Wifi reception was poor
Great location and views. Nice clean rooms. Lovely friendly staff.
Think that in today's world should have free WiFi
Bed very comfortable and rooms nicely redecorated. Great location, very easy to walk everywhere in Picton.
We felt level of service by staff very offhand both in reception and restaurant. Carpet in public areas like hallway very grubby with lots of marks on it.
The room given is not the one we booked. We travelled from Auckland to Picton to view firework new year ,thus we asked room with ocean view and we got room with poor view. Expensive rate as we'll and charged us more than the booking rate? Plus rude and inexperienced staff
We thought the place was overpriced with different rates each night unfair superior rooms without ocean views small and hot overpriced staff average only thing good about place was the pool
The pool, The receptionist Ashleigh was lovely
The wind blowing in around the door. booking being changed when I had asked for specific rooms to keep my family together and rung to make sure this was possible before letting family know which traveled from chch and the West Coast for new years eve and for my elderly dad to watch the fire works form the balcony. I live locally and normally recommend this place, this is my second stay here. Very annoyed at being mucked around and the attitude of the lady on reception with the ancient who had no customer skills at all and was bossy with no listening skills or understanding. My first stay was better.
Location, Views , Breakfast
No cutlery and plates in the rooms
The location was central and the room was clean.
They don't have free wifi. The restaurant was closed. The staff were not particularly friendly.
