we were only staying a few nights but Thomas's was fairly central for everything that we needed to do.
no problems, the staff were very helpful with their knowledge for our travel plans.
Freshness of the rooms, size of the bathrooms.
Silent Kitchen Lounge and TV inside Location Stuff Wi-fi
on the third morning my breackfast has been stolen from common fridge
Clean! New interiors Warm staff
Thin walls, noisy as a result of this. But manageable, not a major issue.
Very clean, nice rooms, not too busy so kitchen usually free to cook
Wifi limited to 400mb a day
Room was very clean and comfortable. Staffs were nice.
Bathroom was not that clean.
I enjoyed the central location.
I stayed in a single room downstairs and found it noisy with doors banging late at night and very early in the morning.
very good location，near the naked bus pick up point，friendly receptionists
Staff was so nice! They recommended me nice walk through the town :) Clean and nice place to stay!
We arrived in CHCH at 10am and the receptionist was able to check us in early, which was really fantastic. The staff were all really friendly and helpful with queries about hotel and surrounds. Room was comfortable and bright, and the kitchen had great utilities. The common spaces were really comfortable, and guests seemed to really enjoy gelling with each other.
There WAS some noisy construction going on over the road, but that's a city-wide effort, so it's hard to escape in CHCH. Definitely didn't bother us, though. The only other potential downside was the state of the shared bathrooms: there's one bathroom for almost every room, but some guests (BOYS, EW) leave much to be desired in terms of cleaning up after themselves. Because there are so many bathrooms, the water pressure in the showers isn't great, but beggars can't be choosers!
I was checking in for an overnight stay really late and checking out really early, so I really wanted to make sure everything would be OK when I arrived. I sent an email expecting a reply after some time, however the amazing Anna replied immediately and made sure everything would be OK. She arranged for my transport to the railway station and even printed out a map of the town along with her favourite spots when I mentioned that I'd like to do a night walk around. Well, that's GREAT service!
The room was very comfortable and clean. The staff was very kind and welcoming. One of the bathrooms was clean all the time.
It was extremely noisy. Was woken up at 5am and drunk guys roamed around the halls and lounge, kitchen until 6:30am. Most of the bathrooms were unclean.
Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.
Lovely the little balcony room, modern colours, spacious lovely bed. Quiet room
No covering over the bathroom windows looking into neighbours house. Musty smell in bathroom window couldn't be opened for fresh air.
staff made sure I could check out early programmed mt phone AND found an alarm to use so I would be up in time for my medical procedure
some guests must think they MUST make noise at late hours
Easy access and accommodating staff.
A bit of tension among the long term residents.
Very nice and comfortable surroundings with great facilities.
Very helpful and friendly staff
Room was pretty small and smelled quite stale
Helpful staff and comfortable room
Not a lot
High quality rooms, the owners have obviously made a big effort with the refurbishment.
Not really a dislike but kitchen and lounge areas just functional, not much character or cosiness, but we didnt really need this as we were there to see the city.
location near Canterbury Museum where many tour buses/shuttles depart, clean shared bathroom
minimal furniture in the bedroom
new facility. overall is good.
sound proofing is bad where you can hear someone walking or talking at the corridor.
I had stayed at Thomas's pre-2012-earthquake, and I was happy to see it was the same lovely little guesthouse/hostel but with some fresh updates. The staff are still very helpful, and there is a nice lounge and kitchen for public use. The dorm room was clean.
I felt like the bathrooms and toilets could use a cleaning later in the day. Otherwise, I have no complaints.
