On arrival we were meet by friendly staff although we were a couple of hours early, however we given our rooms which made our afternoon very easy yo plan, nice rooms, clean & tidy. Everything was made comfortable for us including breakfast & our departure next day.

The bar service needed more staff, a good sized crowd in on Saturday night which 1 or 2 more bar staff would have made the evening more of a pleasure & less pressure on the 1 member of the staff that was on.

Very friendly staff!! Very nice bed.

It's on the top of the hill. If you don't have a car you will need to walk all the way back to the hotel. This hotel is dated but good for the money paid really.

the water ran out mid-shower which delayed us leaving the hotel for an hour whilst it was sorted out. the bathroom needs refurbishing.

Could have been one more comfortable chair in the room.

I liked the friendly staff, they were helpful and accommodating.

The noise was excessive from one room to another, the early morning departures (4.00am) of other quests could have woken residents in Palmerston North. For this reason I would be reluctant to stay again which is a shame.

Even with the budget price rooms are well past their refurb date. Who ever does the handy work needs to up their workmanship

Wi-fi & musty smelling rooms

Rooms very clean.

Mercure Wellington is on a very steep hill. My adult son & I did not spend a lot of time in our room. If you miss the cut off of 11pm to use the rear lift (which has easier access to city streets and not so hilly) it is a hard walk up the hill that gets you to reception. I was also given wrong information by staff in regards to shuttle to the airport for a 6am flight out. I even doubled checked information!!

Location Staff

Sold as renovated rooms. If they were, it was many years ago. The room, and particularly the bathroom, were positively shabby. $20 per night parking is only acceptable when it is valet parking which this was not.

It was close to town. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

The pool was advertised as heated but it wasn't. It was freezing cold.

The room was reasonably spacious, very clean and the bed was wonderfully comfortable. As well it was fairly quiet.

A bit disappointed in that I thought the room was going to have views over Wellington, instead the room had no views at all. The ad says offers panoramic views, but this was not the case with that room.

Helpful and knowledgeable staff, clean, comfortable, tidy room, good location for central Wellington with nice views, very good price.

It's a bit old

The room was good, clean and bed comfortable.

Having only two flat pillows and having to request two more. Sun faded chairs. Felt that the room needed redecorating.

Excellent all round, staff very helpful

It was an adequate hotel for a few nights.

It was a little cold in atmospere as in not very homely, the 30 free internet minutes in the foyer cut me off after 5 minutes, I was told it would be 30 minutes a day, an yet the second day I was not allowed on. There was a very loud mechanical noise, air conditioning or otherwise, outside our room for both nights keeping us awake.

The bathrooms dont have fans so fog up almost instantly! Makes all your clothes wet and the whole room is dripping after only a couple of minutes.

The breakfast was very nice when it was there. The views are great from the hotel and the hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful.

The restaurant breakfast tended to run out of hot food and when you waited for one thing to come out another food had run out too.

Prompt attention to a complaint

This hotel is getting rather dated and its location is not the best being as it is so high above the city. You have to be fit (as we are) to be able to walk very far from this hotel
