The location was absolutely gorgeous! We booked a walk with Yaqub, the owner (?), who took us on a beautiful walk around the gorge. Having grown up in the village, he had a lot of info to give us about date farming, the history of the village, the lives of the locals, etc. It was one of the most wonderful walks I have ever been on. The sweeping views of the gorge, with the verdant terraces and swaying palm trees, was nothing short of spectacular!!! I loved every minute, and recommend it highly to those who like that sort of thing. This is the hidden Arabia I have heard so much about. I really felt like I was witnessing something special, espcially when we explored the abandoned village, which might disappear into rubble in the next few years unless it is restored. This walk outweighed the mild discomfort of the spartan living conditions. Then again, accommodation standards are not what I go on holiday for. My young daughter slept badly on the hard mattress. The terrace of the evening restaurant was very unsafe for young kids, but if you know about it, you can take precautions. The walk can be quite steep and is hard to do with a young toddler or those suffering from vertigo, but we did it and loved it! The pluses definitely outweighed the minuses, but this is a fabulous break only for a certain type of traveller. Those averse to "roughing it" and taking risks, should stay away.

Great location, traditional Omani house with enough modern facilities though - AC and a good bathroom. Very nice landscape and surrounding area. The village itself takes you back in time - so authentic and picturesque.

We stayed at a room with shared bathroom. The room is quite detached from the main reception. in a complex of three bedrooms sharing one big mainhall. The room is only equipped with AC and mattras directly put on the floor. No TV No Wifi. We have also access to a rooftop sitting area with nice view. The bathroom basically consists of 2 shower & closet, and 2 closets only, and a series of wastafel. They are all clean and come with hot water. We arrived at parking lot outside the village and met by the hotel staff. Around 5 minutes walk to the hotel through maze of alleys and finally falaj and palm areas. Please pack lightly otherwise you 'overload' the staff. We're welcomed with qahwa (Arabic coffee) and dates in the reception area overlooking palm plantation. The surrounding hotel area is excellent for morning walk; try a route at the back of hotel down to a gorge or further up to star viewpoint. Arabic dinner (and hot coffee and tea) is served at hotel's rooftop restaurant while very simple breakfast is at ground floor. The hotel staff is very helpful and have service attitude. Hygiene condition could be better especially around breakfast room. Too many flies. The hotel provides each room with mosquitos spray but we didn't have a problem with mosquitos.

That it was in an old village and had kept its traditional look and ambiance. The food was great and cooked by local families. It was like a living part of history.

The hospitality, the building, the village, the environment, the people, the views and the whole atmosphere there was superb. I relaxing and lovely time was had. I can highly recomend the cultural walk. Very interesting but its quite a long walk. I would recomend to anyone who wants to get away from it but don't expect luxury. Its basic and traditional and an all round good experience. Not really suitable for children. There are some otehr great mountain treks available from there whihc we will be going back to enjoy. The food wasn't great it has to be said but it did the job.

We didn´t expect 4* or 5* hotel but rustic accomodation in wonderfull location. And we got it. Plus we got friendly staff, clean room and fine dinner at the terasse. For us this was the best place to stay on our holiday in Oman Nothing

I liked having dinner provided for us and breakfast as well. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I especially liked that the night was so quiet and that my room was up at tree level. There was no light outside my door so at night I had a tough time finding the lock and figuring out how to open the door. It was pretty dark.

Don't aspect your average hotel. But it's perfect as it is. The location is amazing and the people are super friendly. As you arrive the old town, leave your car outside the village and start your search for this fantastic guesthouse true an maze of charming little streets and stairs. At the bottom of this town and the beginning of the dateplantation you will find what you are looking for. A friendly welcome with an coffee and the best dates you can find. The rooms are simple and charming. The shared bathrooms was clean and basic. The roof terraces has the best views you can find in Oman. A must see and visit on your tour of Oman. Perfect with kids, if they can walk properly. No place to visit with kids-buggy's!

The location at the bottom of old Misfah was great. From our terrace we had a direct view on a falaj and some fields and palms. The room was very big and it was nicely remote and quite. To get to Misfah (without gps) is easy, but the hotel is impossible to find without an exact description. The staff was friendly, but you shouldn't expect resort service. (As said in the hotels description) the only furniture is two mattresses (with different coloured blankets in our case). The place has huge potential. If there was some (old?!) oriental furniture in the rooms, maybe a carpet, some torches and a (tea-)bar for the night - or anything that would make the place more cozy - it would be great. As it was, the place could unfortunately not live up to my expectations.

+ The rooms are renovated old houses in the middle of an Oasis, which is part of an impressive old village, full of palm trees and falaj (small water ways) - a fantastic location! + Huge terrace in front of our room + Big room, renovated but in old style - With a bit more care (fixing loose toilet seats or door handles etc) this could be an even better place.

A very special place, at the top of mountain. Very beautiful environment, good place for relax. It's very difficult to find it out if first time go there, very easy to get lost. And needs to walk about 5min with a long rock stair after park your car, no recommend to old people.
