Close to nature, peace and quite.
very friendly stuff, the scenery, the village,
food could be better.... but is ok,
Beautiful dinner setting on rooftop, very attentive service by Mr. Shirash. Ancient building's atmosphere.
Old Misfah house is located in an old village. It is so tranquil here, I only wish I stayed for more than one night.
Excellent staff - Location was excellent, pitoresc - Pure air
The lightning in the room, could not swich 1 light at a time
Everything. The village is wonderful, the locals tolerant, the accommodation enchanting. Food was great and the location is a marvel.
There is a shared bathroom, but people were considerate. This has nothing to do with the hotel, but it needs to be said somewhere. Some westerners walking around the village were inappropriately clothed. Please respect the local context and do not wear short shorts (they should be below the knees..or sleeveless tops..neither men nor women. We are lucky that we can just walk around these Omani villages so let's keep the proper level of respect.
Very nice location of the village as well as the house in the village. House owner is very kind person with wealth of knowledge about Oman. You can expect other guests to be interesting people as well. WiFi Access (for 2 hours) was a pleasant surprise.
I expected village to be more remote (in the middle of nowhere in the mountains). Shared bathroom might be bottleneck for 6 people trying to leave at nearly the same time. You shoudn't compare Oman prices to the similar accomodation in, let's say Italy, which is cheaper by far.
The friendliness and hospitality of the owners and staff. The lush greenery all around. The rustic atmosphere of the house.
The menu did not have a great variety especially of local cuisine. Parking is limited. Lack of info about the routes and places of interest in and around the area. Wifi is limited. Very little entertainment especially at night. Lack of privacy because inner staircase leads to roof terrace.
The Misfah Old House is the perfect location for individual tourists who are willing to discover a special place in the countryside of the Sultanate. The guesthouse is part of a fantastic terraced palm tree garden which suddenly surprises the visitors entering the village. Charming, quiet and warm hospitality, good food, sanitary facilites included.
Misfah Old House is a nucleus of a good idea. I hope that in the future tourism developers in Oman promote a network of this rural and countryside-tourism with a lot of oasis like Misfah Old House. In addition to this it is desirable to offer more day trips. Of course the place to sleep might be very simple (mattress) like in a alpinist refuge - but this is the charm of the whole.
Excellent balance between maintaining an authentic experience of the old house and local food and providing reasonable comfort. Staff was extremely helpful and the setting soothing for the soul.
The location and ambience of Misfah Old house was very different from other accommodation we stayed in Oman. We felt that we were given an insight into how traditional Omani life was lived and experienced, and the lushness of the surroundings was a welcome contrast to the arid conditions elsewhere.
Reaching the Old House meant walking about 5 minutes through the village and down many steps, which were quite slippy. In fact, I slipped on one, although did not hurt myself. The shared bathrooms were a bit of a factor, especially if you did not know the other occupants. We did not mind the mattresses on the floor, although some of our party found them uncomfortable. It was quite pricey for what you received..you paid for the unique location
Warmth of all staff; the garden is a dream; fabulous treatment by owners themselves; Ahmed (and brother Yakob) were at our side all the time, and helped us well beyond the pure reception at the House. With Ahmed's help, we gave a twist for the better to our whole visit to Oman
location inside a small ancient village in the middle of palm and banana trees half board with local products in a large terrace very warm welcome from the owner with dates and coffee
room are comfortable but very simple.
I really enjoy staying in my room
Loved the location, accommodation and the helpfulness of the staff.
there was nothing I did not like.
the location and the staff. walk through the valley.
Unusual location in a falaj (lush oasis) of a historic village in Oman - a unique setting on a steep mountainside.
Not the greatest quality of sleep, with simple cots on the floor, noisy AC, and multiple small mosquitoes that found their way into the room. Spartan accommodation, but that was expected.
Fantastic Place. Very beautifull location. Go Therese for Great experience.
Great hotel with lovely and friendly stuff.
location, quiete, hospitality, not many people, good personal.
Monotony of food, no fruits, no juices, no music in the evening, can be more diversity of entertainments of arabic society.
Location, location, location. An experience to stay in an old traditional house and village
Mattresses were not comfortable
We arrived with three small children (ages 3,5,6) plus grandma. The setting was spectacular, the house incredible and the staff very friendly and accommodating to our family. We can't wait to go back on our next trip to Oman.
Beautiful location, traditional setup, loved the minimalism, nice trecking routes.
- very friendly staff, you feel realy welcome there - very good & home made food - location is unique in a traditional omani mountain village - clean - if you would like to stay in a traditional village, we recommend the misfah old house
