Misfah village is a very interesting place to spend time with a fascinating history. The guesthouse was very comfortable. Staff were friendly, welcoming and professional. Food was good. A thoroughly enjoyable experience. We did a village tour organised through the guesthouse with a local guide who'd grown up there and it was excellent.
Omani style guesthouse , basis and not setting out to be a luxury hotel. Very restful and in an absolutely spectacular setting
amazing! we would always stay there again. romantic, exotic, good food, great nature
This is an authentic family home in a mountain village, turned into a b&b. The setting was spectacular. The service and value were excellent. This was my favorite place in Oman.
Dome touristisch blatently düsterstes the "No Shorts, no T-Shirts" rule
The house was charming, clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful. A cute little place to stay.
The food wasn't very good. Could do with a lot of improvement.
Friendly staff, beautiful traditional house, peaceful location with a stunning backdrop. Hidden gem in an amazing part of Oman.
The house is situated deep in an old oasis village perched on the steep sides of a wadi. Small terraced fields and old houses are shaded by date palms and banana trees, and the evidence of a historic relationship between land, water, and people is fascinating. Food is basic but good.
Great authentic stay in old stone/mud house/building in an old village. Food was good though similar each day. Rooftop dining very nice. Foam mattresses on floor surprisingly comfortable.
Shared bathrooms. Poor lighting. Nothing to do after dinner and can't even read (a book) due to dim lighting in room. And, hard to shave in poor light. Also 5-min hike from parking lot to house is via slick rock steps with no light; in dark it's almost dangerous. Sandblast those steps!
Splendid isolation & beauty of Misfat
Sharing a bathroom, sleeping on a matress on the floor for £150 per night/doubleroom BUT dinner & breakfast are included so all in all its not that bad.No alcohol can be consumed in the village though
Misfah is a beautiful , well preserved Omani village. The green terraces contrast with the dryness of the surrounding mountains. The guest house is in the old village. The room were simply restaured, while enhanced with modern comfort. Staff and villagers are very friendly. I would recommend a village tour with a guide
food, place, history, viewpoints
Sures the Manager is very nice. In the middle of the village
The chance to stay in this ancient village and walk straight from the door.
The food could have been more authentic, it was supposed to be local and traditional, but rice, potatoes, fish are definitely not local ,
The location is absolutely amazing, in an old house, in an old village with fascinating irrigation system, with great views, opportunities to do a number of walks down the valley, along the water pools or up the mountain. Our room had a little shared balcony for watching the stars!
For the price, the rooms could have a bit more comfort like a chair or a small table. You sleep on hand floor on mattresses, which is fine, but it is good to know. Having an option to buy lunch (breakfast and dinner are included in half board) would also be helpful.
Close to nature, peace and quite.
very friendly stuff, the scenery, the village,
food could be better.... but is ok,
Authentic Omani home a step into a different world. Quiet, set on the edge of an old village with plantations fed by natural spring water running down the falaj (water channel) outside the window. Location superb. Staff constantly on-hand but friendly and respectful. Never stayed anywhere like it
Vinyl mock wood flooring
Beautiful dinner setting on rooftop, very attentive service by Mr. Shirash. Ancient building's atmosphere.
Old Misfah house is located in an old village. It is so tranquil here, I only wish I stayed for more than one night.
Excellent staff - Location was excellent, pitoresc - Pure air
The lightning in the room, could not swich 1 light at a time
Everything. The village is wonderful, the locals tolerant, the accommodation enchanting. Food was great and the location is a marvel.
There is a shared bathroom, but people were considerate. This has nothing to do with the hotel, but it needs to be said somewhere. Some westerners walking around the village were inappropriately clothed. Please respect the local context and do not wear short shorts (they should be below the knees..or sleeveless tops..neither men nor women. We are lucky that we can just walk around these Omani villages so let's keep the proper level of respect.
Very nice location of the village as well as the house in the village. House owner is very kind person with wealth of knowledge about Oman. You can expect other guests to be interesting people as well. WiFi Access (for 2 hours) was a pleasant surprise.
I expected village to be more remote (in the middle of nowhere in the mountains). Shared bathroom might be bottleneck for 6 people trying to leave at nearly the same time. You shoudn't compare Oman prices to the similar accomodation in, let's say Italy, which is cheaper by far.
