familiar and helpful staff, good breakfast

The room was okay, clean but obviously was used only overnight. The rest I spent in town and around with a wonderful, professional, knowledgable, kind, and affordable driver and guide. That is the best what hotel has to offer, the human factor.

The rooms were big, clean and had working air conditioning. We had no problem with noise and slept very well and comfortably. One of the men working there, Bernard I believe his name was, was incredibly kind and thoughtful. He organized a van to the airport for me and my group for 8 rials for 5 people, and was very honest with me about what kind of taxi prices we could expect. I felt that he was not looking to scam us but truly wanted to help us.

Breakfast was rather basic, though filling. Also, upon check out I found that they charged my card that I used to hold the reservation without telling me. Booking.com said that we were required to pay in local currency, so I took out a large amount of Rial, only to have to lose money by exchanging back to my home currency. The front desk was not clear about this policy and made the charge without informing me first or providing me with a receipt.

This was my second time staying at Mutrah hotel and I would stay again. At $60 a night the value is good. It is not fancy or new (in fact it is the oldest hotel in Muscat I am told) but it is in a good neighbourhood for exploring, it is clean (though weathered) and the staff are great. The rooms I have stayed in were the cheapest available and they were still very large and had views of the mountains. Don't expect 5 star luxury because at budget prices you get budget accommodation, but this is a good deal for Muscat.

It would be nice if there was coffee/tea available in the rooms and maybe a bottle of water. Parking at the hotel is difficult at night (at least on weekends) as it is overflowing.

Restaurant a bit dark and dingy.

Requested room away from nightclub. Room was ver quiet, with view to mountains. Very clean. Breakfast hot and cold with plenty of variety and different every day. Staff extremely accommodating. Bertrand and Vijay always smiling and helpful. Ward a keeps them all in line and is a bundle of laughs. Negotiating with Omani taxis is a nightmare. Bertrand did this for us and had us on our way to Nizwa without incident.

Fantastic and lovely spot. Very spacious room, solid wi-fi. Staff were unbelievably helpful and friendly. They were constantly offering to help, above and beyond the average. Every morning Bernard the manager would talk to people at breakfast to ensure they were having a good stay. Plenty of advice on local things to see and do. The licensed restaurant was lovely and the food was outstanding. Great location: 15 minute walk to the Muttrah Souq. Great value for the money - highly recommended! Top spot!

The room was not in a very good condition. Door of the drawer broken. The lady at the reception was not very helpful neither professional. No greetings.

This place is fabulous! Stephen at the restaurant/bar made sure that I was happy and always taken care of. The room was adorable and very comfortable. The food and drink prices were very affordable and delicious! I recommend this place to anyone who is staying for both a short and long time.

I loved my room, a clean and tidy single room, spacious, quite and good bed. bathroom is fully equipped with all I needed. The room on the 3rd floor so it was away from the club on the ground floor with people dancing and loud music and karioki singing. I did not hear a thing. I loved the staff. They were very friendly. Thank you for recommending this hotel.

I think the price for a single room should go down to 15 OMR instead of 20 though. That is in comparison with other hotels in the same place BUT overlooking the sea. I have checked those hotels overlooking the sea and found the rooms similar but with the benefit of the sea view AND also the easy access to the cafe's and the traditional souk and the sightseeing. Other than that. No complains what so ever.

A safe hotel particularly for a single female senior traveller , Mutrah hotel offers very clean rooms. One of the hotel staff there ,Bernard, went the extra mile by upgrading my room. Despite my request asking for a room on the lower floor due to reduced mobility, the receptionist still put me in a room on the top floor. A kind and helpful person, Bernard offered me a glass of orange juice upon my return from the souk, feeling hot and bothered. Also ,on my last day, Bernard had no issue giving me hot water when I asked for it. I needed to make hot soup as the spicy Indian food did not go down well with me. It is primarily due to Bernard's kindness that I am going to stay at Mutrah Hotel for the last 2 nights this December , after my travel to uae. I would also like to mention that I shall book all my hotels through booking.com because your staff were kind enough to relay important messages to the hotel on my behalf.I Do not know what you look like but I know I can rely on you to ensure that I get value for my money. Good job.

Apart from Bernard , I think the reception staff should try to be more hospitable to guests. They may have handled hundreds of travellers but it was first visit to Oman and my first stay there. The gentleman who checked me in was dismissive. He did not bother to listen that I had amended my stay from 5 nights to 3 nights due to work commitments. He insisted that I had booked for 5 nights and only believed me when I showed him the amended hotel voucher.I Endured a long flight- 12 hours- to travel to Omah from Singapore. The least he could have done was to give a friendly greeting. Instead he was more interested in showing me, using his calculator, how much more I had to pay for checking in brfore 12.00 noon.I Think the hotel management should retrain him and the other indifferent reception staff to be more hospitable to travellers from other countires. After all, they are the very first people guests have to communicate with. A little kindness and courtesy goes a long way.

The staff & service at this hotel is exceptional. Bernard the manager was so welcoming, helpful & accommodating to all of our needs. Our room & bed was large & comfortable. There was lots of wardrobe space also. The location is great especially if you have a car. I recommend hiring a car whilst in Muscat/Oman as it's easy to drive around & fuel is exceptionally cheap. The restaurant service is also exceptional & the food was great. Overall a pleasant & great choice of hotel for our first trip to Oman.

The bathroom is reasonable but the shower is not seperated so the bathroom floor was always wet. We prepaid an extra fee to hire a parking space but I don't think this is necessary as we weren't given a designated park & just parked anywhere in the complex.

Really good hotel, with many facilities. Staff really friendly, Mr Bernard and Mrs Warda have been really helpful and kind. Nice restaurant with good Indian food, and Bar.
