The location on the beach is great. I have used this hotel before and I believe the service and standard has deteriorated. The check in was not a pleasant experience and hotel management failed to react. We left the room by 8h30 with a please make up room board. We returned to the hotel by 15h00 for a nap and still the room was not made up. Management's explanation - we do the check out rooms first. It was finally made up at 16h30.All in All not a pleasant experience for my guests.

The location on the beach front is excellent and the staff are friendly and very helpful The hotel could do with a make-over. The rooms are very outdated and in need of renovation. For the money it is poor.

I like the location and the fact that even when full the hotel never seems crowded. Have been several times before. The hotel has changed management a few times over the years; current management seem OK. Check-out was very very slow.... polite, the bill was correct, but I was the only one there and it took over 30 minutes.

Authentic arabic hotel, lovely design , nice spacious and comfortable room, beautiful grounds and pool, right on the beach. Reception staff excellent, very helpful. Food was very ordinary and a few more staff would be helpful. Bar staff even more ordinary. Situation not helped by power cut (no back up generator) and emergency light in room on all night.

The location is amazing, the chalet No.17 Was amazing and very spacious. The bed was clean and very comfortable. The sitting room was huge and comfy. Pool facing chalet and the beach was just a hop away from the pool. The pool side bar was superb very natural and relaxing. The beach was clean but the sand was brown…. The breakfast was great but very monotonous. Same thing served every day. Suggest you try out the local BBQ’s which are prepared on the roadside by the local Omani people. People out there are very friendly. The drive on the Sohar coast is great, very close to nature… its green. November ,December is the perfect month to be in Sohar. The pool attendant Mr. Imtihas is realy nice and friendly to talk to. He is the veteran of that place working there since the Hotel was built in 1992 (if I got my dates right). The bedings although clean are very old and some have holes. Perhaps there are rats around ha ha ha Breakfast is very monotonous, every day the same thing is served. Make sure that you don’t go during Eid, no booze is served in the hotel, in fact whole of Oman for the first 3 days of Eid. You can carry your own booz and drink as much as you want to though.

Great location, beautiful set up of the complex. A gem. Very friendly reception. F&b staff could be more professional. Some items outrageous expensive (ex. More than 4 euro for a very small cup of espresso coffee).

Good pool and excellent beachfront location. Quirky architecture. A/c in room not working properly (and we were upgraded to the Royal Suite). Terrace sometimes taken over by tour groups so had to eat inside.

The Sohar Beach has very large, comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The hotel's design is inspired by that of Oman's forts. The grounds and siwwiming pool are well kept. It is not a beach hotel. At the time of our stay there was a warning for tar on the beach which, we suspect, had been there for some time. So,although a number of guests were using the very nice swiming-pool, noone actually dared to use the beach. The hotel is quite far from the centre of the city. Last but not least, there is some construction work going on. The cutting of tiles by machine some 10 meters away from the restaurant terrace while guests were having lunch was noisy and unpleasant to say the least.
