The staff were very attentive and accommodating.
The breakfast was weak, and the facilities feel like the place might have been in nicer condition a few years ago, but now is starting to decline.
Great facilities: Pool, games room including table tennis, bar, good restaurant. Plus a great location near the beach. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly.
Opportunity to put buffers on room entry doors so they don't make loud noise when they close.
Masirah Island is rather isolated. I think the efforts to build and maintain a comfortable hotel are considerable. I like the dedication of the staff, the very large and nice rooms and the beautifull scenery.
In 1990-1991 I spent 6 months on Masirah camping in the conext of my PhD thesis. Getting on the Island was an adventure and we had no blacktop roads. This sounds a bit egoistic, but I regret that nearly every spot in Oman is now accessibe by blacktop road. Some see this as advance, I fear that we loose much of the character of places such as Masirah Island.
Swimming pool, location, and facilities
Flies in reception Flies in the room Flies in the restaurant Expensive Mediocre food Soso comfort
Peaceful environment ,clean air and simple life .
No drain passage in the bathroom after the wash ..
- friendliness of staff, especially the restaurant team
LOCATION FOOD IS NICE PLACE IS CLEAN
IT WAS RAMADAN AND WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE FROM ONE DAY TO ANOTHER THE BAR WOULD NOT SERVE ANY ALCOHOL (EVEN JUST TO THE ROOM). FINE IF IT'S STATED TO GUESTS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL BUT NOT ACCEPTABLE IF CHANGES ARE MADE RANDOMLY DURING THE STAY. SECONDLY, THE SWIMMING POOL WAS UNDER MAINTENANCE WHICH IS ANOTHER FACT NOT COMMUNICATED TO THE GUESTS BEFOREHAND. PERSONALLY I DIDNT MIND AS I CAME TO KITE AND WOULD NOT HAVE USED THE POOL ANYWAY, BUT THE HOTEL DIDNT KNOW THAT AND IF I WAS SOMEONE LOOKING FORWARD TO A FEW DAYS OFF BY THE POOL I WOULD BE VERY DISAPPOINTED.
Surrounding areas / beaches
Other than fresh lobster that was very good most of the Food is defrosted and commercial ( ie pizza, bred)
We were alone in the hotel, the service at the restaurant was nice...
tennis field has been changed to a basketball field... wifi was not working on the island the first days, a very limited number of English spoken TV channel...
- very attentive and pro-active personnel, I would say, that the most attentive personnel over the whole trip to Oman from rest house in Nizwa to Hyatt in Muscat. … and maybe the most attentive in my whole travel experience (48 countries, more than 400 cities visited) - the whole facility is great (though from the first view seems a bit depreciated) - it is very nicely designed/planned, stylish wooden furniture with a touch of retro, fresh towels, excellent sea view rooms with nice balconies - nice breakfast, often made specially for you - Christmas cake as a nice present from the hotel on Christmas, delivered to the room - a la carte menue is quite big, and reasonably priced (all meal with rice is huge, you can easily share one portion between 2-3 ppl)
- limited internet - each guest is provided with 1 day pass limited to 245Mb (though the personnel is very flexible on the policy, and can provide more passes during the day, if you ran out of the credit)
Very good staff: smily and helpful. Thank you at Sheldon, Derrel and Fatima!
Cooking is not good and poor quality. Hotel should improve this point.
Small-scale personal hotel, beautiful spot, spacious rooms, very friendly staff
The pool was not totally clean and around the pool carbage was not removed during the day.
The good service
The ferry to and from the island. The crossing is very slow. It takes a long time to get on a ferry and a lot of people gave up as there is nothing like enough capacity at busy times.
