There is road construction EVERYWHERE. We had no problem with their shared taxi, which means you will have several people squeezed in with you, going more or less in the same direction, but with the construction, many times your cab will not be able to reach your destination. This is Mexico 40 years ago.

Charming tourist town with friendly people and great choice of restaurants. There was a lot of construction and construction noise on the Main Street during our visit which prevented us from exploring the whole town.

If I was 25 and wanted to drink all day, it might be the place for a vacation. Lots of bars and clubs. I food is ok if you can get pass the barkers in the street. If you get out of city central, you can find some lovely beaches, but they are packed with people. We stayed in town for 5 days and two days on an out Island. Be prepared for many of the three- and four-star hotels have no AC. I have traveled all over the world; this would be on the bottom of my list. They haven't taken care of the environment or the waters that bring people to this location.

Be sure to wear the right shoes walking around Bocas Town, as it can get muddy and there's currently construction in town for a new sewer system. While the locals can be a bit assertive and follow you around offering you tour options (and drugs), they'll back off if you say no thanks. Do not drink the tap water and ask for filtered water stations (I also stuck with beer & wine versus mixed drinks with ice). A group from my hostel rented E-bikes which was the right choice to visit Bluff Beach, which made for a great afternoon.

Right now the streets are under construction….
Right now the streets are under construction…. And I mean ALL the streets. It’s tough on the tourism industry for that reason. There may not have been as many people visiting as there normally would be at that time of year. However, don’t let that stop you from going. It’s a fantastic place to visit. So much to se and do. Excellent restaurants.

Bocas del Toro is an overestimated island, public infrastructure is awful, with mud, and potholes everywhere, very difficult to walk and get anywhere. Prices of the hotels and restaurants are slightly exaggerated in my view.
loved the beautiful setting on the water with the bar/common area looking out onto the sea. the staff was wonderful, especially Fred who was so kind while helping me check in, and Paula who’s a wonderful meditation/yoga teacher. I liked that they provided a free “welcome drink” so you could make friends with other travelers who’d also just arrived. the bed pod was clean and comfortable, and the personal fan in each pod was an amazing touch to get that white noise to drown out any snorers.
I checked into Hotel Bocas Town… a charming 4-story boutique hotel overlooking both the main street and the ocean. It was a warm welcome and exactly what I had been hoping for. From the moment I walked in, I was enamoured with it, and the lady who ran the hotel was nothing short of delightful.
I liked it here and I got a good vibe. My bright blue room was everything beach boutique should be. Inviting. Likeable. Cute.
I was enchanted.
It was good feels.
We had an absolut amazing time at RIVA B&B. The owner was so helpful with everything and took really good care of us. The best breakfast we had in Panama! The room was really big and modern, very comfy bed! There are some really good restaurants close by. The hotel is only a 2 minute boat ride away from bocas town, where you can find many more restaurants and supermarkets & clubs. Very recommendable!
Excellent stay.... Food was amazing, bar had good prices, included breakfast was great. Atmosphere laid back and chill. Elegant presentation for dining- service was outstanding. Bungalow on water was very nice and a bonus for us. We were upgraded to a bungalow on the water for 2 of the 3 nights and it was fantastic. Nice place to get away from it all. Saw dolphins out in front all three days!
Breakfast was delicious; the fresh fruit, strong coffee and healthy eggs!
I did not like that cabins are on the water taxi highway and were constantly noisy. Additionally, there was a nearby disco in Bocas Town that blared music until 1 or 2 am that kept me awake.
Also, I was expecting to be able to snorkel off the d class as was advertised, but the water always looked too dirty and rough.
The hosts were very welkoming and friendly. The house was spacious and with all the comfort you would like. Its a little walk from the center but on the water next to a beach with different supermarkets and the bus to Boca del Drago nearby. Ideal for families. They have also kayaks you can use. Thanks for the wonderfull stay, hospitality and good conversations!
The location was perfect and the hostel staff was very helpful. We were able to figure out everything we wanted to do while in Bocas with the help of the staff, they arranged tours to pick up up from the hostel and even helped arranged our transport back to panama city. Lively hang out spot downstairs right on the water.
Stunning location over the water. Fantastic to come home in the evening grab a beer and relax while floating on the water off the deck. The king room and private balcony are a great size and spotless. We had all the comforts of home and more. Air conditioning and fans work fantastically.
Clean, quiet and comfortable accommodation at a walkable distance from Bocas town or an easy bike or taxi ride away. The garden is lovely and each room has a terrace and hammock. The host, Richard, is very friendly (and so is his lovely dog Sombra) and helpful.
Simple but nice apartment in the heart of Bocas Town. The style suits very well with the soul of the Bocas. Johnny, the owner, is a really funny, helpful and friendly guy. Excellent location - just 180 m from the port and 500 m from the airport.
Nancy and her family and the housekeeper are super friendly. I really liked the guest house on the waterfront and even though the location wasn't as I expected I really liked the location. About 15min walk from town and 15min bike to beach.
The location is awesome, beach in front and some jungle-like greens in the back. Far away enough from the drunk bustle of Bocas Town. Great-looking rooms (they call them domes) and very friendly staff
A retreat from the noise of Bocas town where you are enchanted by the sights and sounds of the jungle.
The food was delicious and the staff were exceptional. I would return with friends and family.
The hotel is located out of bocas town which is good. The hotel is comfortable and the host is very welcoming and provides a lot of information and tips on where to eat, visit and how to get there.
This place has been one of the highlights just because of the hospitality of Ana! The place is lovely on the water real close centrally to enjoy everything. Rivas is perfect for couples
