Snooty staff and very overpriced necessities - water 4 soles for a small bottle.

Quiet surroundings, location, good food and service.

Staff were a little noisy in the early mornings when people were checking out of the hotel to go on very early tours.

Onsite private thermal baths; spacious rooms; beautiful views from hotel; beautiful eco designed grounds.

Meals at hotel were expensive (if want local taste and cheaper meals eat at one of the nearby towns); Wifi only in lobby; gravel road is a bumpy, roller coaster ride if you are driving; hotel tax/fee not included in rate; no TVs in the room (fine with me but not younger ones).

The spa was wonderful and it was a very beautiful location.

    The road to the property.

The hot springs and the animals on the site. The rooms were also very comfortable

There could have a bit more international choices on the menu. As you cannot go out of the hotel easily, hotel restaurant is important

Fab setting and good resto, nice walks in the surroundings

Even with all its qualities, the place is overpriced in any Peruvian comparison.

Wonderfully maintained grounds with fantastic hikes in the surrounding hills. Would definitely stay here again if I was in the Colca Canyon.

The location is amazing, the hot springs are to die for. We had a fantastic jacuzzi and couples massage at the spa. Barbecue by the pool was very tasty. Restaurant food was good most of the time. Very peaceful place which is great to chill out.

The restaurant staff were nice people but poorly trained. Drinks would take forever to turn up. Their juices are watered down terribly. Food and drink in general were overpriced. Water was charged 5 times more than anywhere else - and there was nowhere else to purchase water. Food was hit and miss. Clearly some things are microwaved as we ordered a side dish of ratatouille that was served ice cold. When told they took it away to reheat it and returned it to the table 30 mins later, after we had pretty much finished our meal. The spa menu details the length of time for a treatment that is misleading. The actual treatment time is in fact a lot shorter. The time frame includes your changing into a robe, the consultation, and getting dressed afterwards. The bedroom itself was large and quite clean. They were very cold in the evenings and there was a small heater to help things along. They did not replace the complimentary water in the room daily, so we had to purchase water to brush our teeth with. This hotel was the most expensive of our travels in Peru. It was probably magnificent in its heyday but needs work to justify the costs.

I have visited this hotel many times, but this visit was a large disappointment.

The hotel is very beautiful but we had many problems just checking in, and my friends from Peru were also very frustrated. First as Peruvians, they often can just bring their DNI, but the hotel was insisting on Passports which was difficult because Colca Canyon is far away, and there is very little phone service here.... One of our group was trying to call her son in Lima to try to fax her passport, but all of this took energy and time away from enjoying the hotel. My friends also had a change of plans because a family member was coming into Arequipa to visit them. I have a tour group coming in, and had to take an earlier plane from Arequipa. The hotel would not allow us to cancel our second night. Also I had called the hotel and explained we were no longer 5 people but 4 people. A woman on the phone said we could have a different price but when we arrived there were 5 women at the front desk, and none of them knew anything about this. We spoke to the manager who did nothing to really help us.... By the time we finished, I no longer felt relaxed from my hot springs and massage... just very disappointed. I was not able to cancel my second night on booking because my friends had the change of plans after the second day warning... The hotel said I could call booking, but I had no cell service because we were traveling in the canyon of Colca. Booking then emailed me a message that they were changing my reservation, but I never received the second email about what they were changing??? My original price on booking was lower... then Colca Lodge changed the cost... so maybe someone originally made a mistake in the calculations... at this point, I just was so disappointed after spending some much money to visit there....

I loved the picturesque setting. It was serene and utopic. I felt like I had found a hidden treasure on Earth. The air smelled so fresh and the hot springs were heavenly. I wish we stayed there longer.

The superb location. The private hot spring soaker pools. The beautifully-landscaped gardens. The food at the restaurant. Tranquil retreat.

Family rooms had loud squeaky wooden mezzanine floors. Bathrooms were small, with single sinks, small showers only, no tubs.

The hot springs, the location, the breakfast, staff. Also I liked the fact that the staff could advises on really lovely walks in the vicinity

The road in could have been better maintained, despite driving a 4x4 with a very uncomfortable ride

Great free on site hot springs with wonderful view.

    No wifi in rooms

The hotel is in a beautiful spot, the hot springs are nice but not covered so if it rains not simple to access. Rooms are nice but could be better - a glass and a shelf to put your stuff would be welcome in the bathroom as the sink is not large.

Wifi only available in the main lobby. Breakfast is not fast, no buffet instead a caterer serves you but he forgets half of your order or if what you are entitled to. He does not serve the same to all the persons (my mum get fruits and juice but if I did not ask I was not offered the same), I got marmalade and butter but nothing was coming with if I did not ask for bread ! When it's 6:00am and you have to leave at 6:35 but it takes 20mn to have your full breakfast, that's a pity for a luxury and expensive hotel like this one.

Paradisiac setting. Relaxing thermal pools, beautifully sitting alongside the river. Amazing SPA. Well designed interiors and manicured gardens.

Be careful that the road to get there isn't paved, which is quite common in the area, so make sure you are on a decent vehicle.

The location is outstanding. An amazing natural and 'undeveloped' setting alongside the river Colca. The buildings are completely in sync with their surroundings - good quality, clean and uncluttered. The website does not do this place justice. Stay a few nights - you will not regret it! The hot springs are a real bonus, a great spa facility overlooking the river, internet that works (though as would be expected in a remote location in Peru, is somewhat slow). Clean uncomplicated good quality food, friendly & efficient staff led by Nagib the on site manager, all in all a fantastic experience - what more could you want!? One of the best places I have stayed anywhere, and after a lifetime of travelling I don't say that lightly.

Really enjoyed our stay. We'd booked a double room but we're given a twin. To compensate we were given a free massage each. The hot pools are lovely a very relaxing break in a busy hiking schedule

Location and grounds are fabulous.great breakfast spread.

Room was a bit dark and there was a bad smell that wafted up from the drains from time to time. Wifi connection was almost non existent.

We booked a double room, when we got there and shown to a twin room we were told that when booking through there is no way to select the type of room. That's a lie, and when we pulled up the reservation it showed a double. Then we were told that the room is a double, and they call a room with a big double bed a twin room... and there was nothing to do about it as the hotel was full. We were then misinformed by the reception staff as to the time of the bus back to Arequipa, and ended up having to organise an alternative way to get back. The service outside the restaurants was some of the worst we received anywhere, and not what you expect from such an expensive place.
