There's a combination of full day and half day tours...
There's a combination of full day and half day tours available from Oxapampa. I did a Chontabamba tour on my first day there which was less than 4 hours. Then I did a longer tour my next day there. Loma Tours are a good agency. It's a small town so you can easily walk it. If you're going to the Mariposario, that's a bit futher out so get a taxi.SaoirseIreland - 10Scored 10
If you like quiet and nature experience, don't go when there...
If you like quiet and nature experience, don't go when there are Festivals, most of the city people are there....But if you like the party, dances, typical competitions from Austria & Germany, concerts.....if you don't mind the crowds, then go on Festival times!!

Oxapampa is a small town which is starting to grow.
Oxapampa is a small town which is starting to grow. Its an excellente place to go enjoy nature and get away from the city. The only downside, its that as it small town not every place accepts credit or debir card. They have excellent meat but this doesnt makes it hard if you are vegetarian.

Also, only stairs, so you have to carry your luggage up. Furnishing was very basic. The owner/manager of the hotel was nice and friendly, but she doesn’t speak any English. Also, the hotel doesn’t take credit card. It was a bit noisy as there were constructions across the street, but at night, it was quiet. My main dislike about the hotel is that the bathroom is not clean. We saw fungus on the walls.AnneUnited States of America

The hotel itself is beautiful, the rooms well taken care of. There's a pool and fire pit which we didn't get to use do to the quick nature of our trip (we were there for 2 days for a wedding).
