Hatun Wasi Hostel  

Everything was perfect, it is the best guesthouse in Huaraz for sure! Clean, quiet and spacious. The staff was amazing, friendly and helpful, , they always pay attention to everybody's health and well being. I can't say enough because I had such a great time. The breakfast was delicious and the kitchen staff was super nice too. I will definitely go back when I go to Huaraz again. Trust me I am a very demanding person and Hatun Wasi had everything I was looking for and more.

I stayed at Hatun Wasi for 11 nights. There are many attributes to recommend Hatun Wasi, but a couple notable negatives: On the plus side: great breakfast options made fresh each morning. The hotel is very clean, my room (#306) was well appointed. One of the best showers in Latin America: hot and great pressure and you can indulge yourself for 20 minutes, especially nice after an 11-mile hike in Huascaran National Park. Hatun Wasi books four different tours from its front desk at reasonable prices. Pleasant staff. I arrived at 5:00 A.M. from an overnight bus from Trujillo, and the staff just got me into my room, fed me breakfast later, and we handled the payment for the 11 days later. The WiFi is generally fast and reliable to my room. The hotel felt safe and secure.

On the negative side: the location is not great. There are no decent restaurants nearby. There are a couple cafes, but the coffee in one was terribly bitter. So plan on walking nearly 2 km to near the Plaza de Armas to eat in a restaurant, and even then the choices are skimpy. (Hatun Wasi has its own restaurant menu, with sandwiches and the like, but because so few guests stayed there in late April, the restaurant had few menu ingredients and were only serving the complimentary breakfast, nothing else.) One of the staff let himself in my room one day while I was still in the room, no knock at the door, nothing. I had to ask him to always knock first before entering. He came to clean my room, but since we have to check our room keys in at the front desk, a quick glance would have told him my key was not there and I was probably still in my room. The biggest negative of Hatun Wasi is the night noise, particularly an issue from april to july. Apparently there is a festival in Huaraz in July in which drum/flute bands participate and compete. Unfortunately, one of the 10-15 person bands practices on the street directly in front of the hotel. During my 11-night stay, they practiced Monday-Friday nights from 8:00-10:00 P.M., and to after 11:00 P.M. my last night. Forget about blocking the noise; with my earbuds playing music, my earplugs in, and another pair of bose headphones on, I could still hear the loud drumming and fluting, and since they are just starting 3 months of nightly practice this is not pleasant music. It is noise. What is worse, I talked to another guest who had lived near there for four years and always stays at Hatun Wasi -- he said that the last month or so before the big festival, the band practices to 4:00 A.M. some mornings and he got no sleep. So beware: I would not stay at Hatun Wasi between May-July, if you want a good night’s sleep. Too bad, it is a pretty good hostel otherwise.

The beds were older and worn so they were fairly uncomfortable to sleep on.

The location.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They kindly oriented us where to eat and go when we asked. They also assisted us in booking the tours and the bus picked us up from the hostel. I also liked their breakfast options: american, vegetarian and Hatun Wasi with a beautiful view of Huaraz from the top level. Very good value for money.

Overall a very good experience. The only thing for improvement could be to serve the breakfast faster in busy times. But since we were on holidays and relaxing, it was not a big deal.

The staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent.

Coffee and tea facilities were hard to get. They were available, but not easily accessed and not too clean.

It is 15 to 20 minutes far from the center. After 22h, people in the city said that is more secure to go by taxi, that costs 3 soles.

Great breakfast included, help with arranging mountain trips, taxis, etc.- helped that staff spoke english as our spanish so poor!

óTimo para as necessidades que o viajante de ecoturismo necessita: boa cama, serviço de agência de turismo, lavanderia e um bom desayuno. O ótimo café da manhã foge dos padrões do Peru.

O hotel devia ter maior segurança para evitar o acesso de estranhos as suas dependências. Certa manhã fomos acordados por um funcionário (agiota) da agência Ganesa Turismo que nos extorquiu $50,00 soles por uma reserva de um passeio que havíamos desistimos de fazer por problemas de saúde.

Très bon accueil Chambre agréable

O hotel é simples, mas muito bom. A água quente do chuveiro é determinante para o frio de Huaraz. O café da manhã é daqueles limitados, que não dá pra repetir, mas é muito bom.

Todo fue muy bien! Muy amplio y limpia habitación, el personal era muy amable, el desayuno - perfecto! Buena vista a las montañas. Просто отличный отель за свои деньги! Большой удобный номер с шторками и крючками в ванной, с достаточно классным видом на горы! Завтрак для Перу был просто отличным! Кухня-столовая огромные - очень приятно сидеть там вечером! Ну и очень дружелюбный персонал!

Bastante lejo del centro. Немного далековато от центра.

la pésima atención del personal, no hay nada de lo que se llama limpieza, estuve 4 dias núnca limpiaron la habitación, nunca cambiaron las sabanas y toallas, tenías que pedirle jabón y papel higiénico. No existe consideración alguna, asqueroso lugar.

L'accueil est excellent et les chambres sont bien avec une salle de bains privée. L'hotel dispose d'un pc connecté a internet.

Die Rezeption war nicht immer besetzt. Das Hostel ist hellhörig , so dass man nächtliche Heimkehrer gut hört.

Es handelt sich um ein Hotel in der Naehe des Zentrums in ruhiger Lage. Mein Zimmer war einfach und sauber. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit, auch bei der Buchung von Touren in die Umgebung. Das Fruehstueck war sehr gut und reichhaltig. Eine Internetstation ist vorhanden. Insgesamt ein empfehlenswertes Haus mit einem sehr guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhaeltnis.

As acomodações são simples, porém, confortáveis. Contudo, os banheiros são pouco ventilados.

Bom e barato, apesar de não ser próximo do centro, se chega em 10 min de caminhada, nunca pegamos taxi enquanto na cidade, quartos simples e limpos, agua quente, vista bela da cordilheira branca no terraço.
