Freddie and Jose' of Killawasi Lodge were the most gracious hosts we encountered, after arriving in Lima, for a month long adventure into Peru. We knew we'd arrived at the right place when the lodge perro bounded up to greet us as well because we so badly missed our own dog at home. said dog ended up leading us on a great hi,e to the mirador, the following day and even alerted us to a small rockslide, en route. It was the most rural and at once comfortably elegant place we experienced in our month-long tour of Peru. The dog can lead you the hot springs or you can take a taxi. The Lomo Saltado (really all the cuisine) in the lodge's "Quinoa Cafe'" was the finest of the whole journey. Room #10 has a great view and patio as do other rooms. Seriously, all you have to do is ask for what you need and your gracious and knowledgable hosts provide. Freddie even guided us on a birding hike and was very informative. Oh, we watched Giant hummingbirds in the topiary and flower gardens adjacent to the quinoa field. The neighbors host a colorful menagerie of yard fowl, burros, etc.. and don't deprive yourself of walks to the local churches and mercados to enjoy the laid-back nature of the locals. This is a fantastic jumping off point for anything you wish to see at the wondrous Colca canyon (condor pass, ruins, etc.). If you go, give the dog, Nebro, a pat and a piece of queso for me. You get back all that you put in and more at this location.
very friendly staff good food nice rooms with warm blanked heathing
-quiet secluded location, but away from downtown; -kind and helpful staff; owner spoke perfect English; -free parking and wi-fi; -big beautiful rustic room, clean and with balcony; very nice bathroom also; -great buffet breakfast, although we were the only guests;
-the owner somewhat urged us to checkout early, before going to the Cruz del Condor vantage point, although he had plenty of vacancy;
Stayed at a very quiet time of year and did not meet the owner who had been extremely helpful with booking our transfer to the property and a trip to view the condors who performed beautifully on the day ! This is a good 3* property not luxury but comfortable enough and the view from our upstairs balcony was worth every penny it cost for our whole stay. Breakfast and dinner had an adequate choice and were tasty enough. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Breakfast, rooms were great. Good location.
Clean Quiet location with great view in the morning. hot water, heater that looks like a fire place. All make for a warm comfortable environment. Internet was good and in the room. Plenty of parking for those with cars. Breakfast was full of options both cold and warm.
Altho was in the town close to the Condor park you had to go all the way back thru town to get to the road to the park.
Beautiful setting Great good Private patio Good staff Accommodating staff
The town is limited in anything to see and is very, very quiet
The lodge is clean, modern (westrn toilets), comfortable (heaters in the rooms, hairdryers, nice toiletries) and situated in a lovely rural setting (small town of Yanque). We went on a hike with the staff which was a highlight for us. Full breakfast buffet.
Staff very helpful. Great breakfast beautiful location. Arranged tour for us. Fabulous place. Highly recommend
The Killawasi Lodge is beautiful, in a pastoral setting, well-maintained, has a great restaurant, and is reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?
The staff was really friendly, the room was very comfortable and the food was delicious.
The accommodation and the food were a bit expensive for peruvian standards
Location! In Colca Canyon but in the small village of Yanque where we were invited to a wedding celebration and were never outsiders. Guillermo was terrific at setting up transportation from Ariquipa and then to Puno, as well as the condor viewing. Best of all was the horseback ride, just the local horseman and me on our horses up in the mountains. Not to be missed.
Everything about Killawasi Lodge was fabulous! The staff were very friendly and helpful with any questions and all our needs. The food at the restaurant was excellent and fresh and plenty of it. Would highly recommend this lodge.
That we had to leave!
Wonderful accommodations, very comfortable beds with down comforters, newer building, immaculately clean. lots of hot water, and a reliable heater. An excellent breakfast in the restaurant right across from our room. the restaurant also serves excellent dinners. This boutique hotel is intimate but very high quality. The view from our patio was lovely, and multiple hammocks invite relaxation. Our teenager enjoyed horseback riding in the canyon which was arranged through the hotel. We also arranged transportation from Arequipa, a tour of Colca canyon including the flight of the condors (Fabulous!) and transportation to Puno all through the hotel at a very reasonable price. Altogether an excellent value and our best stay in Peru. Highly recommended!
location is a little out of the way, about 15 minutes by cab back to Chivay.
Hotel rooms were very comfortable, large beds, comfortable mattresses, hot showers, delicious breakfast in room with great views. Dinner was very tasty as well. The hotel owner helped us get taxi reservations for a hike, and to transport us to Cabanabonde. He also explained to how to get to the Yangue hot springs down the road, which are lovely!
Just about everything....
A little remote and nothing much to do in town, pretty dusty roads
The lodge is build a little bit outside from the small city centre and with the panoramic view to the mountains its an ideal location to acclimatise to the altitude. The restaurant is good, the staff is friendly and the rooms are nice. The lodge is not cheap but very nice. The breakfast is good.
The WiFi connection is not stable. The prices in the restaurant could be a little bit cheaper.
Tranquility Nicely designed Hammocks with nice views Good restaurant Lovely rooms High standard generally Huge bed Offered free guided walk
Tour prices Restaurant service
the host is not very welcoming
The owner, Guillermo, was very helpful and had an eye on everything. He spoke excellent English and was willing to arrange tours, transportation, etc. The food was very good with a restaurant on site. I would highly recommend Killawasi Lodge to other travelers. The town itself is small, but the hotel is a perfect site to relax before and after adventures in nearby Canyon del Colca.
Beautiful Lodge with great food and awesome rooms. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Helpful and friendly staff.
Very slow internet. Very limited selection on menu, based largely around alpaca.
Room was very new and spacious, and with a nice private terrace. A free 3 hours hike with a guide from the hotel was included (to Uyo Uyo, and hot springs), which was very nice, and very interesting.
The staff was not very charming, with the exception of the hiking guide, who was excellent. The room was very cold at night. And the breakfast very poor, compared with the peruvian standards, and taking into account the prices of the hotel, which are much more high than other excellent hotels in the area.
All the staff was very helpful and knowledgeable about local activities. Great breakfast buffet, especially the eggs and bread. Good food for dinner, too--best quinoa soup.
It was cold at night, despite the heater and blankets.
