Great location, and accommodating of our early check-in.
Very stripped down room, that was out-dated, and shower knob was broken, but there aren't any high-end hotels in Iquitos. La Casona is the best option in the area, and a great price.
Art, location, design, quiet.
Fairly priced, warm welcome, clean and friendly.
It was near everything, very central to Iquitos. Rooms were really clean. I love how the hotel is made, it's like this beautiful maze, and there's a lot of light from the sun , lots of open spaces. There's also beautiful psychedelic paintings to sell on the walls . I would have stayed longer at this hotel if I had known before how nice it was. The staff is very friendly , many were english so it was good for me. They know many of the good spots around and can guide you to them. Some people don't know this, but they can also give you a free entrance to a pool , except it is not at the hotel, it's something like 10minutes away . If you need a guide to go to Monkey Island & Butterfly far, you can ask them for Freddy. He speaks english as well , and we had a blast doing those activites!
They only took Visa. But I guess it's like that everywhere. Make sure to withdraw some money before if you have other credit cards. Also the breakfast was very basic, I would suggest you go somewhere else and not pay the breakfast fee of something like 3$ . There are many great cafés and restaurants walking distance ! Karma Café /Don Amazon for example.
Good location Reasonable price Friendly staff
There was a very strong mould smell in our room - just after spending one night there all our clothes smelled really bad. When we asked about possible change of the room, we were told that it was impossible.
all of it
It was well located. Close walking distance to square, restaurants, river and market.
Good location; close to the square, could walk to recommended restaurants. You pay for breakfast, but it was served especialy for us when we arrived and it was worth it.
Bugs ran when we first turned on the lights to our room; I stomped on one and the clerk casually used his foot to kick the guts out the door. Slept with the lights on. In the patio area, had to step over a lady who was laying on the floor whining about being sick and in the jungle for too long. At breakfast, someone was loudly talking about taking too much "medicine" and needing to dry out. Not a great start to our trek into the Amazon.
Kind staff, comfortable rooms and lovely decor around the common areas. The crafts, photos etc were a nice touch. Cable tv, shower, bathroom etc were great to have. They were extremely quick to help with any problems and were good with suggesting tour operators etc.
Wifi was up and down, sometimes good and other times not so good, but this is to be expected. It wouldn't stop me staying here again.
Not flash but a very charming and comfortable place to stay whilst in Iquitos. Highly recommended.
We were taking an amazon tour and stayed in Iquitos for one night. We were pleasantly surprised with La Casona. It is beautiful and the rooms are decent. Showers are clean. Staff was kind and helpful. Ask for air conditioning though if you want it otherwise you may get a room without it as happened to us until we requested a change of room. It costs a few pesos extra but worth it during summer months!
Basic breakfast - bread, jam, coffee Bed bugs crawling on the bed, walls, in the bathroom. So bad we had to relocate.
This hotel offers air conditioning in the room and for Iquitos it's a must have! However, the a/c noise was louder than I was hoping. This hotel has nice lounge/atrium and pleasant deco. They have a couple of PC dedicated for internet use, but they are old and slow. Bring your own wi-fi enable device. The staff was helpful but English was very limited.
The reception area is cluster and has no A/C. I feel bad for those who work at the counter. They even wore full clothes in this kind of heat and humidity?! Wifi is weak here and sometime is not reachable from my room.
My husband and I spent 5 days in a jungle lodge down river from Iquitos, and came to La Casona for one night after that to rest before the next leg of our trip. We opted for a room with air conditioning and had breakfast brought up to our room-- after sweating for a week in our rustic lodge, we felt like kings!
Great location Affordable
Breakfast not included and had to pre order the day before.
The common space is very cosy, staff very friendly, clean, good location
The bed was almost falling apart and it wasn't confortable, kitchen almost inexistent
Good value for the money, room is clean, two blocks from Dawn of Amazon and riverfront.
Lack of shampoo and body wash
Location was great, simple but spacious rooms. We had ceiling fans which were fine for comfortable sleep in the heat. Pleasant courtyard. Friendly staff. Good value.
In one room the bathroom was tiny so water from shower tended to make a bit of a lagoon around toilet. the other room had a much more spacious bathroom.
This Hotel is quiet as the rooms are not facing the main road... Location and proximity to shops/food/culture great... Staff spoke english and did a really good job of taking care of my group.
The green parrot in the garden
We had quite a quiet sleep although iquitos never sleeps :) Nice hotel!
Most rooms have no much day light. Poor breakfast, better use the restaurant next door.
Nice clean bathroom
The only window was facing a corridor
Nice facility, decently located in safe part of town, showers were hot, secure facility, helpful staff (English speaking), clean rooms
Room #106 was like an oven... Windows open to common area and there is no AC so you get no ventilation and a fan in the room is useless. There is a dance club near so about 10p the loud dance music sounds until 3am.
I requested a room #238 that other guests had mentioned as being quiet and air conditioned and La Casona honored my request. The room was clean and the water hot. There was a nice cross draft for sleeping if you did not want to use the air conditioner. The beds were comfortable. Screens were on any openings so there was no trouble with bugs. And the location was excellent for visiting the square and strolling around town. A ride in the mototaxi is cheap and a good way to see the town and is a fun experience. We enjoyed out stay and would recommend this hotel.
I would have liked to purchase a better breakfast if it was available.
Was pleasantly surprised to see what was behind the front doors! Several nice sitting areas - rooms clean and more space than others I had booked. Staff very friendly.
Coffee was not complimentary but this was not unusual in our various stays within Peru.
