Hotel was beautiful on the outside, old colonial building, but inside it was a bit sterile and "hotel" looking - lost all its character. Bed was comfortable, room was a little on the small side and a bit dark.
Pool was beautiful to look at but icy. Considerable work going on in central courtyard in one corner that had pickaxes and pneumatic drills to break up concrete. Sound echoed throughout hotel. Also had drilling and hammering in at least two bedrooms. When I tried to call reception to let them know how noisy it was - guess what, they couldn't hear me. Checking out took around 40 minutes - which is just rubbish. Their MasterCard machine did not work so had to use a Visa card which was not ideal as got charged considerably more by my bank. Ended up late to the airport!
ALL GOOD IN THIS HOTEL. IT IS CONFORTABLE THE STAFF IS LOVELY E IT IS IN THE BEST POSITION. THE FOOD IS VERY GOOD
It's in the main plaza, so it's a great walking area to see the historic town.
They were remodeling and the smell of paint was in my room every day. Plus, if you're in your room during the day, it's noisy.
friendly staff, good breakfast buffet, great location, luggage room for after checkout.
renovation work going on while we stayed (they should be over now), staff asking insistently where we were going each time.
The hotel is a short walk from the main attractions in Trujillo historic district. The hotels restaurant is quite but excellent. Better than any other restaurants we could find nearby. You can also get light bites in the newly refurbished bar.
Trujillo is noisy. Taxi drivers like to use their horns all the time. Ask for an internal room facing the courtyard.
One of the best hotels in town
Really is a top choice in Trujillo...
Hotel is currently undergoing renovations so pool is closed and there is some construction noise during the day.
The Libertador was a gorgeous building at the center of town and within walking distance from the bus station. The staff were friendly, helpful, and cheerful. The room was especially comfortable, clean and quiet. We particularly liked the dip in the pool after a dusty walk through Chan Chan.
There was some construction going on in another part of the building which had strong fumes at certain locations. We learned to avoid those.
The guest services was excellent. The employees were more than happy to assist you with anything. The hotel was pretty clean, historic but modern, and inviting. Our hotel room was quiet comfortable. The location was perfect... right in the main central square. It is walking distance to several restaurants.
I thought the location of the massage room was not as private and quiet as one would like. You can hear everything. Also, there was a little bit of construction or hotel remodeling going on as well, so if you plan on getting a massage you might want to wait until after they are done for the day.
Very good hotel, excellent location, being currently refurbished, good rooms, good bathroom, even old AA worked very well. Staff is friendly and attentive, breakfast very good. A very pleasant stay and highly recommendable for exploring Moche archeological sites in the nearby.
Has no parking but uses a private one, at the hotel account, a coupkle of blocks away.
Location, friendly staff, particularly Daisy
Limited facilities within the room: storage, sitting, space for luggage. Noisy and very dusty repair work which prevented enjoyment of public spaces. Poor connection with the city: rooms and entrance lobby are not opened to the city. Small and congested lobby, staff overwhelmed if several guests leaving. Red tape (but this is a Peruvian general "treat")
great location great staff
they really care, it seems to be a thing with the whole staff, they are as good as the physical infrastructure of the place, which happens to be excellent
Undoubtedly the best hotel in the historical center of Trujillo, located right on the Plaza Mayor. Nicely appointed and comfortable rooms. Good dining room. Very helpful staff.
