Fabulous location!!! Room 204 is the best room with spectacular views of the ruins and a balcony large enough to sit on.

our hotel was in a beautiful location and was situated on the river and also overlooking ollantaytambo ruins so we had beautiful views.

Breakfast could do with having a little more choice.

Fantastic location, and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Excellent communication and helpfulness.

There was hardly anything left for breakfast the first day including plates. We ate elsewhere even though it was included. The sound of upstairs - people walking was quite loud.

The hotel is well located we particularly appreciated the view from the balcony of our room of the Inca Terraces. The hotel itself is quite pleasant with sitting areas with tea available and a small garden overlooking the river. The room was a reasonable size and the bed comfortable.

The staff were mostly indifferent especially those in the dinning area at breakfast. The breakfast itself was poor, the worst we encountered during our stay in Peru. On our second morning we arrived to find little left and had to ask for juice, glasses and cake which never appeared. We eventually gave up as did other guests. The dining room would benefit from brighter table cloths and a more attractive presentation of food.

From my original booking which was originally one night, they were very accommodating in that I asked to extend my stay and then cancelled the extra night (a mistake in hindsight). The staff were extremely friendly and professional and recommended a great restaurant for dinner. They allowed us to store our luggage at the hotel prior to check-in while the group stayed in Aguas Callientes. Staff immediately called a doctor once a member of the group was stung by a scorpion and covered the injection and doctor visit (who arrived in a matter of minutes). Absolutely fantastic hotel and will highly recommend anyone visiting Machu Picchu to stay two nights at Hotel Sol rather then staying in Aguas Callientes.

Lovely hotel in lovely town to stay

Terrific little place. Pay the extra $10 and get fabulous views over the ruins and river. Excellent value for money.

No tv, although that's not necessarily such a bad thing. Wifi not good in rooms but good in common areas.

Everything. Comfortable hotel in every respect. One of the nicest hotels we stayed at in Peru.

The bread at breakfast could be better, but maybe that is more a problem of the local bakery. The orange juice could be fresher. But dont let that put you off.

Great location and reception. The concern of leaving a take out breakfast for those who leave early to get the train to Machu Picchu is certanly priceless.

As we did the checkout early in the morning (at 4h30 am to be precisely), the receptionist didn't know how to use the credit card machines and, didn't know the exchange rate from dollars to soles. We spent almos 15 minutes waiting him to decide what to do and, we had to accept the rate that he thought should be just not to lose our train!!

Lovely hotel about 3 minutes walk from the plaza de Armas and beside the river and bridge. Our superior double ($5 more than standard) had a balcony overlooking the river and inca site - it was divine. We also had a triple for the rest of the family - all single beds were huge and more than adequate for two kids to share. No view bit still spacious and pleasant. Breakfast room lovely, all glass windows woth super view. Hotel staff really friendly too. Also stayed in tikawasi hotel which we loved too - they are on a par but Hotel Sol has the edge!

The credit card system was down when I stayed which was how I intended to pay for the room. By the next day, the machine still was not working so the man at the front desk (who wasn't the regular front attendant) said I had to pay in cash. I went to withdraw money from the ATM and asked if I could pay in cash less the ATM fees since their system was down. He reluctantly agreed and when I did get the cash, he did not have enough to make the proper change and seemed irritated that I didn't have the correct payment. On top of this, the wifi did not work at all in the hotel which was inconvenient and there were lots of flies when we arrived into our room.

The MOST comfortable bed ! A nice large bathroom with hot water all day long. The staff were friendly and always had a big smile for us. The location was great - we had a room with balcony and a view of the ruins- directly opposite Hearts restaurant - with delicious home baked bread.

We had no internet in our bedroom and the breakfast was rather dismal.

The convenience of this location was excellent. The view was amazing. The staff are super friendly, helpful and accommodating. i hope to return to Ollantaytambo just so i can stay at this hotel again. not at all kidding here. well...and to play with the cats.

Nothing. I knew when booking there was not a tv. However, I was delighted there was not a tv! One is in peru, who needs a tv?!?!

Location next to creek center of village and great view, rooms spacious and warm, staff friendly helpful and resourceful.

The workers were all friendly. They wanted to make us feel comfortable and we did. Breakfast was basic , but sufficient for an early morrning start. We left to MP very early in the morning, without even requesting a breakfast they prepared one for us . I would definetly recommend it to anyone that is looking for a nice, clean and well managed hotel . You should know that rooms do not have television. My husband @ I listened to music and that worked for us.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. My view was beautiful and the hotel was close to everything in the town and a good central point for other things like the Inca Trail and Sacred Valley without all the business of staying in Cuzco. However, double check your reservation if you are to be picked up from the airport in Cuzco as I had to call and find out where my taxi was. There was no tv in my room (which didn't bother me), but for some this may be an issue. The internet worked fine. The water was pretty warm which was nice after no hot water for a month. I was able to hire a taxi through the hotel to take me to a couple of places I wanted to see that weren't in the tour packages. I recommend this hotel. It was nice and a good price.

I had to call to find out where my driver was when waiting to be picked up from the airport. He was about an hour late. Apparently there was some sort of parade or something, but the other drivers from other hotels were at the airport on time. He and the hotel staff were very nice and apologetic about it, but offered no discount for this and it was already a very high price. It was 45 dollars for the pick up. I don't know how much a taxi from the airport would have charged to take me to Ollantaytambo, but the taxi I took back to the airport was 25 dollars. Also, busses are available from Ollantay back to Cuzco for 10 soles (about 3 dollars). However, I'm not sure where they drop you off. You may have to get a cab from the bus station to the airport once in Cuzco.

Localização perfeita. Dá para ir a pé para a estação de trem. Alguns quartos tem vista para o sítio arqueológico e o rio passa ao lado (na verdade nos fundos), vc dorme escutando o barulho da água. Providenciaram um box com lanche para o passeio que saia antes do horário do café da manhã.

No box com o café tinha uma laranja! Achei estranho, como ia descascar?! No caminho a pé para a estação de trem, dei a laranja para uma senhora que varria a rua, pois não tinha como descascar, poderiam trocar por uma maçã ou qq fruta que não precisasse de faca para descascar!! O café da manhã que tomamos no outro dia era bem fraco, dá para melhorar! Cobram um valor superior ao do mercado pelo transfer para Cusco, pesquise antes.

Hotel sencillo, pero con confort. Habitaciones amplias y excelente ubicación. Recomiendo pedir las habitaciones con vistas a las ruinas de Ollantaytambo y, si es posible, las del segundo piso con balcón. ¡Increíbles!
