Le Maitai Polynesia is in the south of Bora Bora on Matira Point Beach. Guests have a choice between rooms with garden or lagoon views, and bungalows with direct beach access or over the water.
Score from 68 reviews Very good
Guests at this luxury resort can choose between garden suites with private pool, beachfront suites with a private hot tub, or overwater bungalows with direct access to the turquoise waters below.

|Located on the west coast of Tahaa, the family-run Au Phil Du Temps features a private pontoon and a restaurant. All accommodation offers a flat-screen TV and a desk.||
Located on 1.5 hectares overlooking a private beach, Pension Alice et Raphael offers beachfront bungalows with a private patio overlooking the lagoon and mountains.
Score from 14 reviews Wonderful
Close to a shop, nice beach with corals
Noisy and broken aircon, toooo expensive, quality of service is very low, hard to get a kayak or snorkel, long queue on check-out, long wait for a bellboy, long wait on check-in
Food staff and facilities
The air conditioning did not work, which for a European made the first 3 days miserable. The mechanic came out 3 times until eventually on the fourth night we were given a new room. The hotel gave the impression of being tired, and we were not the only room without air conditioning as I noticed on another bungalow the cage did not even contain a unit. It is probably difficult for a local to comprehend how the heat saps ones energy when one is not used to it.
location was nice
The staff were opportunists trying to make money and take advantage of the isolation. You better have your credit card ready if you war to do anything. Also, the reef is completely dead. If you want to see any life underwater, you have to pay them to take you there. Kindof a rip off. Hawaii is a much better and better value.
Welcome, all staff, room, restaurant, beach, water... in a word.. Everything!!!
Bungalow location Cleanliness Friendliness of staff
Transfer from and to the airport not included. No specific present for our honeymoon. No free internet access. Not enough water pressure in the shower and sometimes no hot water.
Pretty much everything...a fabulous bungalow on the lagoon was definitely the way to go. Staff were friendly and helpful, with a good sense of humour. Check in and out was seamless - happy hour was fun and put cocktails at a more reasonable price. A nice touch to make the snorkel and canoeing free.
This is no budget break and I appreciate the cost of getting people and products to / from the island, but you do get the feeling it's Sofitel making the money not the locals.
Very friendly and helpful staff, gorgeous over-water bungalows, great snorkeling, good food, fantastic dive shop.
Leaving, although the staff gave us a great send-off.
location close to beach and lots of good restaurants. Food in the hotel will not dissapoint. Over water bungalow is roomy and comfortable, but ...
Hotel is run down. Needs a complete makeover. Our room didn't even close ! Locks and doors completely worn. Our over water bungalow had a private sundeck. One of the boards of sundeck gave away under my foot ! Wood had rotted away. This theme goes on evrywhere in the hotel. Of course the hotel is also expensive, just as anything in Bora Bora. But at least you expect some basic maintenance for your money. I cannot understand that a group like Sofitel let's this get out of hand so badly, because it obviously didn't happen overnight. It's an emberrassement really.
Laid back vibe and amazing views
The facilities, decor and amenities felt a bit tired and would benefit from a lick of paint.
Free wifi, very fast! Staff was welcoming from the start - Tania in reception was very helpful and everyone else followed suit, especially the beach staff! Beachfront Bungalow was beautifully kept and luxurious, well worth the splurge on this very expensive island. Great snorkeling from the beach and around over water bungalows. Free kayaks to explore lagoon. Excellent location within easy walk of many markets, restaurants, shops & Matira Beach!
Restaurant is very pricey, worth a splurge for one or two meals, but plenty of other restaurants/markets within 10 minute walk.
-bar staff -beach activities
- room not ready upon check-in, long wait -overpriced excursions -noisy resident neighbours -reservation process
Everything... Will not stay in Sofitel AGAIN
