Our hotel room was slightly dated and the service, at times, in the restaurants and at the concierge was slow.
The amenities and layout of the property.
The food is way over priced. It is ridiculously expensive to eat in the hotel
We had a very good time at Moorea Intercontinental resort and spa. The facility is at excellent location. The view and the snorkeling experience worth every penny spent.
Food was much too expensive and there was a lack of fresh fruit available. This was quite disappointing given the tropical location.
Loved the layout of the resort and the way our suit opened onto the beach with private deck and sunbathing area. We enjoyed the spacious bathroom with its huge mirrors and big shower area. Thoroughly enjoyed the luxurious surroundings and the friendly helpful staff. The cultural shows are fabulous with the girls in their beautiful traditional costumes and fire dancers are truly spectacular.
The activities were unreasonably expensive and the dolphin pool is very small for the animals.
I liked the location, the beach, the pool and bar and the room, and saw sharks, sting rays and eagle rays while snorkelling near the resort.
All of Moorea is insanely expensive and the Intercontinental is certainly no exception. The room (overwater bungalow is the only one we stayed in) is worth the cost, but the cost of food at the Intercontinental is outrageous. $40+ per person for breakfast and $25 hamburgers!! There is a great small market within walking distance down the road to the west from the Intercontinental. We got pastries and cheap (but good) coffee there. Places will come pick you up for dinner too. The Mayflower was the best food we had the whole time we were there. Snack Mahana is a good lunch spot to the east of the Intercontinental. Reikilibre-toi is a good supplemental massage option for people on more of a budget. They will also come pick you up.
Overwater bungalows in the low 500s (we were in 508) are deepwater bungalows so you really can jump right off the back into the ocean These are also situated within a small lagoon, so you are farther from any boat traffic within the main lagoon. Some people walking along the trail at night behind the bungalows, but in general it was very quiet. If you want better views of sunrise or sunset, bungalows outside these numbers would be better for you. Ask at the front desk to see the map before you accept the key- you can pick your perfect room if it is available. The staff is incredible and the service is amazing. From the porters to the front desk and for sure the concierge-they all were great. We booked the whale watching cruise through them that leaves directly from the Intercontinental and got to swim with humpbacks. They also have kayaks you can rent for free to explore the lagoon.
Excellent hotel and staff services.
Some of the barmen at the pool cafe/bar were not overly friendly or helpful. Our over water bungalow was "tired" and very expensive. The cleaners were also not particularly friendly.
The beach dinners were wonderful as was the pool bar. The marine life is very special. Foyer area was beautiful and modern. Reception staff were really welcoming and friendly. The main pool and beach area was lovely and fun for the kids.
insects in the room
the food there
Anything you ordered to your room has an additional charge of 1200XPF. So if you want to order a bottle of water or one cocktail, add an additional 1200XPF to your bill for 'delivery'. Don't order room service unless it's a large order! The internet also is not the greatest connection and always disconnects.
Everything about our over water bungalow was magical - from the dolphins right below our bungalow to the sunrises of Moorea. The staff were very friendly and always helped with restaurant bookings, pick-up and drop offs, in addition to water activities. We do recommend though that you book a taxi or a ride in advance if you're landing in Moorea Airport because it is illegal for hotels to send you transportation.
Check in was 2pm. Arrived an hour early but didn't get into a room until 3pm. Then the initial room assignment was a so called "free upgrade" that was less desirable than what we had booked.
Staff was friendly.
