Budget hotel and location. They need to look at Hotel Maitai on Bora Bora to see how to welcome guests. Everything costs extra, breakfast, internet etc. Much better to increase the rate and include these things. Hotel restaurant meals not very appealing.

It has a great location. The room was cozy. It had a restaurant and bar service. The fact that it only had electricity during the evenings. I had to stay outside during the day and get ready in the dark cause there was no power in the morning.

Love the quietness and most laidback place to enjoy the beach and the open air restaurant atmosphere. Everyone who works there make you feel so welcome around the place.

There is a good view of the mountains & sea from the property. The restaurant is quite reasonable & also enjoys a pleasant outlook. There is quite good snorkelling off the end of the jetty. This is a reasonably priced hotel amoungst a sea of redictulously expensive ones, however, it is too humble to spend more than a few days in & is not a resort. You would only stay there as a cheap place to doss down if you were a busy traveller who just needs a bed @ night & a private bathroom. The security is quite good though, property is fully walled & entrance locked @ night, guests have a key. What i particularly disliked about this hotel was the stingy lack of practical & low cost room equiptment & facilities & the poor maintenance of what was there. In our room the aircon did not work, the fan had 1 speed, (full power). The tv was flatscreen but no English & poor reception. No phone, electric kettle or coffee making facilities, room conpendium, cups, not even a glass too use when teethcleaning. No shampoo even! It takes forever to find someone @ reception & then they dont know much. It pains me to reccommend this hotel, yet i will as it is so much cheaper than the good ones, so for budget travellers only & i would advise the budget conscious not to stay long in moorea period!

The location is to die for... Cook's Bay/ PaoPao is absolutely stunning, and the view from the restaurant over the water into the bay is really beautiful, much more so that other hotels we visited. Our room was a water front bungalow, a little cramped with the single bed in there as well as the double, but comfortable and clean, and with a perfect view of sunset. A really excellent and affordable alternative to staying in an overwater bungalow at the more expensive resorts, and well away from the noise from the road which I think would be a problem in the garden bungalows. If you can afford it, pay the higher price for the sea view. The snorkelling off the end of the jetty is far better than off the beach at the Hilton, Intercontinental and Sofitel, but the water clarity is not as good due to the mixing of fresh and salt water in the bay harbour. But the coral is nice in patches - there was a lot of coral damage in the 2010 cyclone apparently and it shows. There are lots of small colourful fish, but no big schools of them like you might see in Fiji, so if you are hoping for some serious snorkelling you'll want to take a tour with a dive company. Make sure to do the feeding the rays and sharks tour, it is excellent. Having said that, we saw three or four turtles further around the drop off towards the harbour entrance; one of the smaller ones did hang around the jetty at times. We saw a shark, once, an eel, lion fish, and someone else saw a school of rays. BUT it isn't as good as some other spots in the Pacific Islands - Mana Island for instance. You can snorkel over the shallow water around the hotel at high tide but only if you are an experienced snorkeller, it is too easy to damage the coral if you're a beginner. Food at the restaurant was excellent, especially the poisson crue. Bread is served with every meal, lunch and dinner, so you can eat quite lightly if you are budget conscious. The roosters - not something they can really do much about; they do crow at odd times off the night, but not for long. Transport is a problem generally, don't rely on local buses as there aren't any. The ferry busy is unreliable; organise transfers via the hotel (700 francs) or hire a car for those days you want to sightsee. Some other reviewers have complained about having to pay for things at Kaveka that other hotels include for free. We didn't hire a safe, and nothing was stolen - not even the wallet we stupidly left on the porch table overnight!! Doh! But it really did feel very safe due to the hotel layout - security camera at the door, large wall around the property. The bike hire is not cheap, but I had great fun riding around to the next bay. Kayak hire is also expensive, but again its the sort of thing you'll only do once, so you'll benefit in the end from not paying more for your accommodation to cover those so-called ''free' inclusions. Suck it up! We'd definitely stay there again.
