I asked the hotel manager to call a tour operator to arrange a pick up time, even though I had already found, on my own, the tour guide, as I found it difficult to communicate on the phone in French to arrange details. The hotel took a 20% deposit for this tour, which I found out later from the tour guide was kept by the hotel and not given to the guide for his services - it was a very high price to pay for a 2 minute phone call to confirm a tour, and a rip-off, and the hotel cheating the tour guide. I was not told in advance by the hotel management/receptionist that to make this phone call would require a charge, simply to confirm the time of pick up for a tour. Also, the room had torn fabric in the ceiling and open vents, leading to constant mosquito problems in the room in the evenings with no way to keep them out, and constant ant problem. Starving dogs and cats frequented the hotel and begged for food from clients. The room, packed with 2 beds and shelves, had little floor space for walking. It is at least a mile, and at least a 20 min. walk, to get to grocery store.
location is lovely; one receptionist was very helpful dealing with a tour operator who was dishonest and over-charging by nearly double a whale-wathing tour -- Nice snorkeling off the dock, although shallow water over sharp coral. Very kind and friendly gardener works in the yard keeping the surrounding garden lovely.
